How do you do it?!
I'm about a size 16 and wore a maxi dress yesterday and the pain from the top of my legs rubbing together was horrible! Really hurt!
I won't be wear a dress or skirt for the rest of summer I don't think.
And my legs leave a lot to be desired so that rules shorts out too.
Looks like I'm spending the entire summer in cropped trousers and strappy tops!

Cropped leggings under dresses

Or you can get cotton lycra cycle shorts

Or sloggi do longleg pants

Or try lanacane anti chafe

There is another product 'bodyglide' iirc

Talcum powder does wonders!

Stops chafing instantly, Im 37 weeks pregnant and fit in nothing but a dress so I have no choice Grin

It only happens to me when I'm pregnant (I'm 16 weeks at the moment) and it's horrible. But there's no way I'm putting trousers on in this heat. I've been using light moisturiser on my inner thighs and that really helps to stop the rubbing.

I've got primark control shorts, think they're £6, and have been perfect in this heat, they're in the wash today and I'm really regretting wearing a maxi dress without them, think I need another couple of pairs so I can wear them every day!

I go for the old 'cut the bottom off a pair of tights and make them into lightweight shorts' thing. It stops the chafing (and the regular trips to the loo to apply more talc) and you don't get too hot. It's been a godsend this week as I'm 37 weeks pregnant and can only really fit into my maxi-dresses!

Ah chub rub :( I always wear leggings under mine to stop this happening so I'm not help. I'm snaffling all this advice though! I miss bare legs!

Cycling shorts.

Antiperspirant applied to inner thighs.

If you have already got chapped inner thighs then apply a medical dressing to one thigh so your legs don't actually rub against each other.

Cropped/cut down leggings or tights are your friend.

As a fellow victim of thigh chafe I feel your pain!

Fifth vote for talc here! It's the business.

Report
MintChocChip147 · 18/07/2013 11:35

I can see that talc would work for a little bit but don't you have to keep stopping every so often to reapply it?
Do the underwear/ short things make you hot?

I cut off tights as well. Cut them off beneath the knee as they roll up a bit.

Evans used to do comfort shorts which were the same material of tights, but didn't ride up. I miss them.

I bought some cheap leggings with a thick waistband (so there are no lumpy bits) and cut them off at the knee. They don't make me too hot and stop me bleeding from chub rub (i'm not massive but in this weather it's inevitable) Smile

I have often wondered this myself having only got minor relief from lanacaine and talc and I could never find cycling shorts in my size...

when we lived in the far east they used to use KY jelly :o

I was a child-teenager then so I have no idea if it worked. When I came back here I had no idea that KY had any other use :o

Now I wear Capris a lot.

Mint I find I get hot with leggings but not cut-off tights. I always have to reapply the talc fairly frequently so it doesn't work too well for me (unless I'm going somewhere with easy access to the loos - like a wedding or something) but I know plenty of people who can put it on in the morning and not have to reapply all day. I think it depends on how much of a (how to put this delicately...?)perspiration situation you get!
