are the British ill equipped to deal with the heat?

I am unbelievably cranky about everything today sad

Khaleasy Wed 17-Jul-13 17:00:28

It makes me worse in the car (no air-con).
I think a lot of people get hot and bothered. I have no patience because I hate the heat!
Some people love it though so it goes both ways

I am mrs grumpy pants too.

Grrrr.

Horribly tired too (leg fkin sore you know what I am on about!)

YANBU.

It also causes so many other problems that I've decided to start doing some charity fundraising for the cause 'Down with the Sun'. I plan on plastering it all over my FB and demand my friends donate.

We are having potato wedges fish fingahhhs and salad for supper, you want a comp pasta dish, diy [folds arms]

We just have Big Scary Sweary Teens with water pistols having fights in the park. They are scareeeeeeee.

And I really hate seeing blokes in the supermarket wearing flippin swimming trunks and deck shoes. This is Notting Bleedin' Hill, not St Tropez. If I wanted to look at hairy sweaty armpits, I'd check my own out, thank you very much.

I love the good weather, I love the sun and the heat however 2 out of 3 of my kids are pissing on my good mood. angry

FayeKorgasm Wed 17-Jul-13 17:10:10

I love the weather - I'm in my element.

I'll fuck off now though, because you probably don't want to hear that grin

Snoot Wed 17-Jul-13 17:10:11

Absolutely, I lose the ability to think entirely clearly and snap my way to the shade. I don't like hot holidays either, 24-26 degrees is plenty for me. DH has also been snappier than usual, the hour's train commute from London is a bit much in this heat. Ugh.

Euphemia Wed 17-Jul-13 17:15:03

I am utterly chilled. smile

I've been on holiday for three weeks, my lessons are planned for the first week back, my new classroom is almost ready. smile

I've had a lovely week pottering about Edinburgh by myself. smile

I built an IKEA bed all by myself today, then DH and I dismantled the old one and took it to the tip. smile

We are off to Dumfries & Galloway next week and the weather is forecast to be sunny. smile

DD and I are booked into Cream O'Galloway for ice cream tasting on Monday. smile

I have a gin & tonic. smile

DH and DD are making dinner. smile

Life is sweet right this moment. smile

Owllady Wed 17-Jul-13 17:38:52

Ok Euphemia
ENOUGH!

grin

Twirlyhot Wed 17-Jul-13 17:41:44

I have given in and bought air conditioning units. By Friday it will be 18 degrees chez Twirly.

Twirlyhot Wed 17-Jul-13 17:44:26

It's about 24 max today in Edinburgh. It's 30+ here.

UnexpectedStepmum Wed 17-Jul-13 17:45:55

DD1 has been grumpy all afternoon including mother of all tantrums. At pne point she was shouting "Help, I'm locked in the kitchen" (she wasn't). Doors and windows open so expect a thread soon about I think my neighbour locks her child in. At another point she was shouting " Father, father! "

I am grumpy too so bedtime is starting Now.

SaucyJack Wed 17-Jul-13 17:53:15

Hell yes!

I'd joyfully break something if I could be arsed to get up.

Euphemia Wed 17-Jul-13 17:54:05

I must admit, it's a lot cooler here than the bonkers temperatures in parts of England. I'd hate that.

LynetteScavo Wed 17-Jul-13 17:57:26

I work in an environment where I often have two people talk to me at the same time. I deal with it because it's my job.

After work I went to collect DC form after school club, and a member of staff and DS talked to me at the same time. They were both oblivious to what they were doing and expected an answer. Normally it wouldn't bother me. Today I nearly imploded.

LynetteScavo Wed 17-Jul-13 17:58:51

And then on the way home DD fussed in the over hot car. I imagined myself being one of those parents who pulled over, got their DC out of the car and smack their bottom.

I don't usually have crazed ideas in my head, honestly!

faaaaamily apparently too hot to eat

I am eating own bodyweight in wedges with mayo, grumpily

LynetteScavo Wed 17-Jul-13 18:03:05

She was fussing about something her teacher hasn't done. In the heat, I have managed to build up a feeling of hatred for her teacher.

coldwater1 Wed 17-Jul-13 18:03:18

This weather makes me happy! We don't get enough of it in the UK. I'm on London so its really hot, the only thing i hate is not living by the sea.

euphimia have some crannachan ice cream for me when you go, it's delicious.

aldiwhore Wed 17-Jul-13 18:09:09

I'm a sweaty ball of rage today.

LynetteScavo Wed 17-Jul-13 18:16:37

I've just realised I sound completely deranged, rather than bad tempered.

Now, if I owned a swimming pool and had a house keeper, I would be all sweetness and light.

We've had no hot water for 10 days. Plumber has been out 5 times and it's still not fixed. And each fucking time he says, ooh, lucky it's not winter.

No it fucking isn't. In winter you don't need a shower twice a day. I've got hot, sweaty, grubby children who won't have cold water near them and I've got no aircon in the car because that's fucked too.

I couldn't be any more fucking pissed off.
