to think looking attractive will help me get the job?

interview tomorrow and DP thinks I should wear my black primark suit. It's ill fitting but I don't have much money and was the best i could afford. My other option is this dress www.amychildsofficial.co.uk/store/index.php?route=product/product&path=94&product_id=298 . DP says that it's better to play it safe in white shirt & black suit rather than feel stupid.

I think looking good in the dress is much better than the frumpy suit! His office is full of techy people. I don't think he understands women do wear more fashionable things to offices nowdays. Any opinions? I know it's not right, but I do think that flattering my figure and looking 'pretty' will help with my confidence if nothing else!

You looked really lovely and smart in that dress - much better than Amy Childs.

The dress looked amazing on you. Suits you much much more than it does Amy Childs! Fingers crossed for a call back.

This is a great thread. grin. Mumsnet at its best.

I hope you get to the next stage. If you do I hope you post a picture of your M&S outfit.

The dress looks great.

How did the interview go? Come back and tell us!

YoungBritishPissArtist Wed 19-Jun-13 15:35:02

I'd charity shop the suit grin

AnyFucker Wed 19-Jun-13 14:52:33

You and me both, Fell smile

morticia74 Wed 19-Jun-13 14:38:14

Go for the dress. It's better to wear something that makes you feel good rather than self conscious. Besides if you got boobs it shows whatever you wear!

TheRealFellatio Wed 19-Jun-13 14:29:05

Now I've seen the photo of the OP wearing it I don't think it looks wrong at all. I probably would not go so far as to recommend it for an interview, but I wouldn't shriek in horror at it either. I have revised my opinion. grin

LittlePeaPod Wed 19-Jun-13 14:16:14

OP, if I was the interviewer and you wore the dress I would think you looked smart. I work in an environment where suites and smart wear is a must. Plenty of women in business wear that kind of dress. It's not too short and you can avoid the woundabra.

OrangeFireandGoldashes Wed 19-Jun-13 12:35:21

Hope the interview went / is going well, OP.

Another option to bear in mind for the future is to wear a lace-trimmed vest top in a neutral colour under a low-cut dress or top. M&S do two for £15 or thereabouts in a variety of colours and because they are straight-cut across the top they make a cleavage-y top or dress more conventionally "respectable" while still being smart and feminine.

MrsBucketxx Wed 19-Jun-13 12:33:25

I agree the dress is much better, hope it went well whatever you chose to wear.

Crowler Wed 19-Jun-13 12:30:06

How was the interview? What did you wear?

VivaLeBeaver Wed 19-Jun-13 12:24:36

My dh says where he works interviewed for a secretary recently. They were all good so they "gave the job to the one with the best tits".

Depressing isn't it.
