AIBU?

to refuse to watch the Apprentice because it is so full of knobs (and be sad about it)

LOVE the apprentice, but as the years go by it seems that instead of looking for bright entrepreneurs they have sought out the most obnoxious, big headed goits they could find.

Watched the first episode and switched it off after twenty minutes because I could feel the Rage coming on with the bickering and out-shouting and arrogance from the candidates. Made me really uncomfortable.

AIBU to no longer watch it, even though I used to love it and enjoy the concept. Should I give it another chance, do they calm down?

YANBU. Me too Sad I used to absolutely love it but I haven't been able to watch it the past few years because everyone has been absolutely awful.

I still hark back to those amazing days with Rafe, getting a phone call to say he was need urgently back at the laundry task, him saying he was coming immediately - and it cutting to him ordering 3 lattes Grin

I managed to grit my teeth through last years but most of it made me cringe (the two guys from different teams fighting over a customer in front of the customer - to name an example)

Use to love it and it had some really decent folk in it

Agreed i was fondly remembering the 3rd series i think it was... the one with ruth. that was the first series i watched and so much better than these idiots. obviously they make better tv than the earlier series who had some candidates who you could believe could actually run a business.

I can't stand the people, they are SO bitchy and snide - I wonder if they simmer down a bit later?

I enjoy watching it because of the total bellends they have on it.

I think they normally calm down a bit as the series progresses.

Not much evidence of that so far though.

Surely thats the attraction of it though- especially when they fuck up and get a dressing down from Sir Alan who says exactly what we are all thinking. Love it!

What are they doing? They're making a television programme. This dictates who gets selected, what the tasks are, how those are edited and so-on.

I hate it. I find it so cringeworthy and I'm almost hiding behind the sofa. DH loves it (he also loves made in Chelsea!) so I get sucked in every year. It's just so dull and predictable. Wouldn't it be nice to see them doing really well, that would be interesting.

A friend actually tried out for it. He said they asked no business questions at all but just put you in front of the camera and egged you on to make outrageous statements about how you'd shag your granny for success.

Yeah, I knew someone who auditioned too and she said that the basic idea was that in the group exercises you need to be able to shout the loudest.

Yes, I feel the same. I know it makes it more 'interesting' but it just pisses me off!

I prefer masterchef now, even though I have lots of personal interest in business and none in mitchelin starred restaurants.

Oh I so agree OP. It's like they no longer choose the candidates based on merit or on the basis that they might actually be skilled at what they do but more on the potential of each one to be absolutely loathed for usually more than one reason. I suppose they think that gets people talking and that = publicity? Not in my book - it just means I don't watch. If I want idiots and bolshy fuckers a trip down to Asda will usually take care of that so why would I want it when I'm supposed to be enjoying a TV programme?

I dislike it now and have given up watching it.

Series 1 was brilliant, Tim who won was a deserving winner and a nice chap, and I really liked Saira.

i'm shocked they interview, this lot made me think they just went into a local pub and asked if anyone would go on tv for £20. none this series seem to have anything about them at all, i used to really enjoy it, this series is rubbish

Just died laughing - this is exactly the reason why I shop at Morrisons Wink a much lower normal:knob ratio.

if these are the best of the bunch I would hate/love to meet the rejects.
preferred the earlier series

This is why I barely watch TV any more - it's so obviously made to be "good television" and nothing else. I expect the producers have already decided who the winner will be, maybe even before they started filming.

I prefer great british bake off, I think, I was going to say, because it is not a public vote off, but then neither is apprentice. and the apprentice is so edited

although one year, was it last, the man who had already invented something won, he was a quiet one wasn't he.

It must be becoming difficult to find people willing to go on as only fools would want a heavily edited version of themselves designed to make them look like a knob on prime time TV. Apologies to your friends who applied, I think they have had a lucky escape.

waikikamookau - I enjoyed that series actually, for the most part. It was Tom, the inventor bloke, who won (and he had been in the losing team pretty much all series!)

Never thought of MNing whilst watching. May make it hilarious rather than cringey!

It's just another reality show, really, is it not? Full of arseholes desperate for their five minutes of fame.
