AIBU for being a gay guy who has read this forum for ages, loves it, doesn't have a child, and yet still joined

I don't want to impose on Parents space, but a lot of my friends have said...."someone has just said on mumsnet something you said the other day" and "you need tto join mumsnet", "you'll love people who are mumsnet"

I wanted to join. I really like it andd I'm level headed.

Am I encrouching on you?

Did anybody mention the initiation ceremony? <creepy face>

The more, the merrier IMO

My cousin and his husband are both members here, as is my teen dd. Nary a child birthed between them, but lovely solid people all. (And no, we don't know each others posting names thankfully )

Glad you're here smile

Having kids is not compulsory, honest.

LittleFeileFooFoo Sun 28-Apr-13 02:22:53

LittleFeileFooFoo Sun 28-Apr-13 02:23:32

Oh God , yes - the initiation ceremony! I still have flashbacks! winkgrin

foslady Sun 28-Apr-13 14:33:22

Hi there Hov - welcome aboard, pull up a chair and grab either brew or wine

LadyMountbatten Sun 28-Apr-13 14:33:57

the idea of anyone "encrouching"....

tbh OP really? are you SURE you have nothing else to do?

ouryve Sun 28-Apr-13 14:36:23

Kestrel - you realise that by joining you are now doomed to be hated by the Daily Mail forever?

Oh, wait....

catgirl1976 Sun 28-Apr-13 14:37:32

YANBU

Welcome thanks smile

grimbletart Sun 28-Apr-13 14:47:12

Welcome flowers

FWIW I am far too old to be on here (should be on Gransnet really) but I find it interesting to see what the youngsters of 40 or 50 are thinking.....grin

Jewcy Sun 28-Apr-13 15:00:28

I think you are being unreasonable to have not posted a photo of yourself in gold lamé hotpants.

SilverOldie Sun 28-Apr-13 17:34:29

Hi and welcome Kestrel.

I'm ancient, single and have no children (no ivf in my young days). I lurked a lot before plucking up the courage to post.

Jewcy lets see your photo wearing gold lamé hotpants smile

JamieandtheMagicTorch Sun 28-Apr-13 17:36:05

Welcome

I like your name smile

CoteDAzur Sun 28-Apr-13 17:38:07

"Of course not everybody is welcome here"

And this is why everyone needs to learn about using commas grin

JamieandtheMagicTorch Sun 28-Apr-13 17:39:12

God, this thread is a testament to how susceptible to a bit of buttering-up we are

Hugglepuff Sun 28-Apr-13 17:41:50

Hi ! If I knew how to send those little pictures I'd send you a glass of wine and a bunch of flowers as a welcome in ! HIP HIP HOORAY AND WELCOME - there you go, can do capitals and comas !

marjproops Sun 28-Apr-13 17:41:51

yeah, dont know why they call it MUMSnet, Im okay with you, OP, although TBH it does get a tad uncomfortable personally if Im on a thread and its getting a bit more than toilet humour (not that Im crude in any way) but sometimes theres intimate female body parts type threads or slightly 'who would you....'and suddenly someone reveales themselves as a man! after about 200 posts! blush

headlesslambrini Sun 28-Apr-13 17:45:01

welcome. I like it when men join, sometimes I need advice from them as well usually when DH is an arse grin

LayMizzRarb Sun 28-Apr-13 17:47:41

Welcome! I don't give a toss what turns you on in bed, which is basically the difference between gay and straight.

I don't have children either, but I don't think that makes me any different from Mums and Dads when it comes to having an opinion or a laugh.

Welcome to Mumsnet x

ItsYoniYappy Sun 28-Apr-13 17:54:40

YANBU

I wish I had found here pre marriage and DC tbh

I could be living a whole different life right now!

Welcome. You're not a Teacher are you?

Nothing against Teachers but my Ds 2 favourite Teachers just happen to be gay and I meeting with one this week he is bloody handsome I must stop that. It's not funny, true but not funny

NicholasTeakozy Sun 28-Apr-13 18:12:57

Welcome OP. Do you have an opinion on Fruitshoots and Greggs sausage rolls?

<important stuff>

Pan Sun 28-Apr-13 18:30:49

No, Kestrel, you are not welcome. Run, and do it now. Take a large hammer, smash anything you own that accesses MN into teeny pieces, join a religious order and live the rest of your life as an acetic monk, wondering the cold, unregarded north-facing slopes of the Andes, talking only to items of vegetation.

ItsYoniYappy Sun 28-Apr-13 18:40:27

Pan Is MN addict, he has been here for years, he cannot help himself, he has an addiction. [sigh] I had it too but I left for years and years and years and came back and most some poster are still here.

ouryve Sun 28-Apr-13 18:44:39

Does an "acetic monk" drink vinegar, or something? grin
