I have baked a chocolate cake, complete with chocolate buttercream and chocolate fondant icing on top.
"D"H has served the cake by cutting it down the middle into two halves and then cutting these halves into slices (like you would a loaf of bread - so all the slices vary in sizes).
AIBU to think that this is just wrong? I have pointed out that you don't see restaurants hacking cutting cakes like this. Also it means that the cake doesn't stay as fresh.

Am pretty pissed off.

It seems to be ok to have bread with pâté and cheese if its lunchtime. But order a pâté starter or after dinner cheese, and you get no bread.

Or maybe it (and BIWI) is right, and this is why French women are thinner.
In any case I'll take the buttered croissant and bread with my cheese.

My DH once took the lovely organic broad beans from our veg box, shelled the beans, threw them in the bin and put the pods on to steam!

There's a theme here, the other day mil baked some smoked salmon in foil and butter.

Grilled croissants? Buttered croissants? Wilful cake butchering? There is a whole world of wrong on this thread.

Perhaps now he's admitted it you can begin moving on with your lives and just put the whole incident behind you.

He once "made" a lasagne using a couple of jars of dolmio "sauce". Apparently the directions said "place a layer of meat, then white sauce and pasta, repeat layering".

I got home to a lasagne which had all the meat on the bottom, followed by a glupy lump of white sauce and pasta layers stuck together on top.

He's never been allowed to forget that.

That's just crazy. If you have ever eaten lasagne then you should be aware of how it is layered.
