CaramelLatte Sat 20-Apr-13 11:05:14

Thank you, I always seem to get this one wrong, now it is firmly wedged in my brain.

LadyMountbatten Sat 20-Apr-13 11:05:47

i have never ever typed an OP so carefully in my life

grin

AgentZigzag Sat 20-Apr-13 11:06:18

I always spelt it as 'definately' before I got a spell check on my firefox.

If you don't know it's wrong how can you know to check your spelling?

LadyMountbatten Sat 20-Apr-13 11:08:10

God I get confused with tomorrow and all sorts so I GET IT.

But this one gets me riled.

The other one I do a secret snidey snurk at is when people ask about " Independant" schools.

Obv think " lady, if you can't spell it, are you sure it is right for you and yours"

I KNOW, straight to hell.

dontmeanto Sat 20-Apr-13 11:08:22

The crazy thing is I've actually had people try and tell me I'm spelling it wrong. "It's 'definately.'"" Sigh.

Trapper Sat 20-Apr-13 11:09:31

I find that it helps to say it with a South African accent.

grin 'Defiantly' is my favourite misspelling.

reelingintheyears Sat 20-Apr-13 11:15:46

Not nessessaraly.

FanjoForTheMammaries Sat 20-Apr-13 11:22:17

It is also TONSILLITIS
and CYSTITiS

Not 'Tonsillitus'

noisytoys Sat 20-Apr-13 11:22:17

I always say it as de-finite-ly when I'm spelling it because if I say it like that, I will spell it correctly

Salmotrutta Sat 20-Apr-13 11:25:38

I'm very glad I never have occasion to write desiccated very often!

Gets me every time!

usualsuspect Sat 20-Apr-13 11:26:30

Have a medal

Salmotrutta Sat 20-Apr-13 11:26:35

I always want to put two "s" in...

HollyBerryBush Sat 20-Apr-13 11:27:14

Rediculous is the one that gets me.

Viscous rather than vicious

Discusting

Salmotrutta Sat 20-Apr-13 11:28:33

People do tend to write "discusting" on here as a joke though Holly

I hate it when people spell dependent as dependant. Or vice versa. Dependent (dependent in something/relying on something) and dependent (as in a person like a child is a dependant).

<hauls arse to pedants' corner>

Eurgh see- spell check did it for me.i got it wrong blush

Tbf...I couldn't care less really, as it's not important overall, but my mistake there got on my nerves as an example.

LadyMountbatten Sat 20-Apr-13 11:41:48

Lol at trapper s African

Gerrof Sat 20-Apr-13 11:42:15

I TOTALLY agree with the thickos who write independant re schools. If their children are as dim a bulb as the parent who spells like that perhaps they need fhe benefit of smaller classes and more attention. grin

LadyMountbatten Sat 20-Apr-13 11:42:25

Vicious is hard though I think.

Viscous is Calpol

PipkinsPal Sat 20-Apr-13 11:42:47

That's rediculus (sic). I will now use the word definitely because it was one of those words I was not sure about and would not use in fear of making myself look a twat. I do know how to spell ridiculous though grin

Gerrof Sat 20-Apr-13 11:42:48

I love spelling it discustimg.
