to ask what are the most loathed topic starters for mumsnetters?

I'm a new poster although I've lurked for a good while. So what are the loathed topics that keep resurfacing time and time again? Or ones that get on everyone's tits?

[braces self for this would probably be one of those threads] grin

Any topic dealing with children and tv/computer/gaming/ipods/ipads/etc. and how it seems people have the need to inform us,

"my child ONLY watches Xamount of time, on the screen"
"my child ONLY is allowed to play his hand held games... "
"my child isn't Allowed a game system"

As if anyone really says,

I let my child watch TV, 24/7...
I let my child game out anytime he/she feels like...

Perfect parents... gag

I'm always surprised at the amount of Mooncup/ sanitary protection threads that are on 'chat'.

Why is there a need to discuss this so much confused

AND, AND when it's shortened to sanpro, I find that even worse for some reason.

westcoastnortherner Wed 10-Apr-13 21:46:03

Anything with a link to the Daily Mail apparently

I love those "my child will bypass the haribo, chocolate and cake at parties and politely demand tender stem broccoli and alfalfa sprouts" posts.

I'm sure there are some children like that, but they are very well represented on MN indeed. grin

(of course my dc would choose peppers and houmous over a bag of buttons any day --I wish--)

I hate the AIBU such as AIBU to think that murder is a bad thing, or AIBU to hate child abuse or other such. WHAT IS THE POINT?

LadyBigtoes Wed 10-Apr-13 14:34:39

The ones where the OP says in all genuineness "My DH earns 300K but we're still only just scraping by." Can't believe anyone dares to post that, but they do. NEVER goes well.

Ezza1 Wed 10-Apr-13 14:32:17

All of the above!!! Not really sure why I bother logging on half the time confused

Haha cross post Robot

everlong Wed 10-Apr-13 14:30:22

There's non that really bother me enough for me to remember what they are!

The ' should I POAS ' annoy me a bit though. I have trouble believing that the posters doesn't really already know she's pg.

Just go and do a frigging test.

I also hate any thread that makes a statement and then says 'Discuss' angry it reminds me of being at school. And I get irritated by threads written 'by a child' - AIBU to throw sandwiches at my mummy - and the like.

RobotLover68 Wed 10-Apr-13 14:28:27

Anyone that adds "discuss" at the end of the thread

Oh do fuck off dear

hurricanewyn Wed 10-Apr-13 14:26:49

What does everyone else do with their pubic hair - I don't know about anyone else but I don't care about what other women have in their knickers

hurricanewyn Wed 10-Apr-13 14:24:49

The same ones that come up at certain times of the year

Why are people doing Hallowe'en - rant about Americanisms being imported, greedy grabby kids etc

How lazy do you have to be to buy pancake mix/ready made pancakes instead of making them

Valentines day is a load of shite/hallmark holiday

etc etc

arabesque Wed 10-Apr-13 14:19:47

I also rarely open threads asking posters how often they change the sheets, hoover the sitting room, clean the toilet etc etc etc

LadyBeagleEyes Wed 10-Apr-13 14:17:14

Yes 'namechanger here, pom bears, cubes of poo whatever...'
I immediately think troll.

Binkybix Wed 10-Apr-13 14:16:56

I want a giant smarties cookie!

arabesque Wed 10-Apr-13 14:16:42

Threads that talk about 'mummy friends',
or give earnest, scientific terms to things parents have been doing for generations: et 'BLW', 'Controlled Crying'.

crashdoll Wed 10-Apr-13 14:13:37

"like where the OP saw a toddler eating a cookie the size of her head"

Now, I want a giant cookie again! angry That was a great thread.

crashdoll Wed 10-Apr-13 14:12:27

Oh and also "come and hold my hand" threads for things like waiting to hear if your window cleaner is coming or not.

sosooootired Wed 10-Apr-13 14:12:10

I don't like the first sentence where people introduce themselves as a namechanger - don't know why always irks me

crashdoll Wed 10-Apr-13 14:11:27

The "am I pregnant?" ones drive me loopy. Next time, I see one, I might pop in and say "that's exactly how my auntie Judy felt before she found out she was pregnant with sextuplets, one of which came out looking rather like the nextdoor neighbour's puppy".

zukiecat Wed 10-Apr-13 14:08:57

arabesque Wed 10-Apr-13 14:08:54

The SUV ones usually go a bit mental after a while so unless you're in the whole of your health I would avoid them.

I also hate the precious 'a little boy wouldn't give DS a go on the train at nursery today and his mum said nothing' ones. Yeah, yeah, whatever.

Binkybix Wed 10-Apr-13 14:07:01

No subject as such because you don't have to click on them, unless the title is poorly worded. So poorly worded titles are my pet peeve!

YouTheCat Wed 10-Apr-13 14:04:52

I can't think of anything!

There are some titles where I'll be certain how things will go on the thread because of the subject matter - but I click anyway and am sometimes surprised. grin
