AIBU?

to find it rude when people turn on the bubbles in the jacuzzi, without asking you what you want?

that's it really. I had a day out at a local spa with a couple of friends. it has an open-air hot tub with room for about 6 or 7 people. we were sitting chatting happily - no bubbles, just still water, when 2 women climbed in and turned it onto the volcano setting, 2 or 3 times, no eye contact, or asking us if we minded. it happened later that day with a different couple. I think they were bloody rude, but is that what people do in spas?

Is that not the point of a jacuzzi, bubbles?

I thought the whole point was the bubbles....?

can I ask-what were you expecting it to be like in a jacuzzi?

They're supposed to have bubbles. It's more unreasonable to want to sit in a communal bath.

I know what you mean, but this has 3 settings-still, some bubbles and, as it says 'volcano'. surely if the people in it have it on still you don't crank it up to max?

It's a jacuzzi! Without the bubbles you're just sitting in a bath!

I would probably have checked as I put them on but would not have been shocked if someone else had just turned them on!

Do not do as I did and add bubble bath. Blush

I thought the 'still' setting was for when it's not in use. Sitting in it like that seems a bit strange to me.

Yabu. You're sat in a jacuzzi. It wouldn't cross my mind to ask. I'd think I was doing them a flour by pressing the button. They probably thought you were a right lazy arse for not pressing.

perhaps one of them needed to trump so was covering her tracks so to speak..

I have something in my head about being thankful, and the types of bubbles but I just can't put it together and say it.

Maybe they had a massive fart brewing and needed the bubbles to mask it.

Favour not flour.

We'd all had beans for lunch and needed to disguise it. Sorry OP. Grin

Agree with Viva. I'd think you didn't know how to work it and that I was doing you a favour by introducing some bubblez. If I wanted to sit in a tank of still water I'd have a bath, not pay for a spa day.

I could tell my tale again of the bloke who sat next to me in a gym jacuzzi and had a wank. Be thankful things weren't that bad.

I thought when it was on "still" that was it's cleaning phase and you had to get out? Certainly at any spa I've been to you are not allowed to stay in it on the "still" phase.

It's like moaning that someone got in a lift with you and pressed a button to travel to another floor when you were just using the lift as a quiet place to have a rest and didn't really want to go anywhere.

honestly Grin I never thought of that. at the risk of being accused of drip feeding, apparently it's a hot spa pool

I'd think you were the one being rude, hogging the jacuzzi and not wanting bubbles on!

Madness.

Sounds like they were using it for its intended purpose.

Wow, lots of first world problems on MN today.

YABU. Jacuzzis are meant to have bubbles.
