I spent mine dusting Cocky Towers and cooking washing up etc.
And up early as usual to breakfast DD...
'D'P spent all pm asleep....
My Mother's Day will start at 9:10am tomorrow when DD and DP are at school and work.
Come Fathers Day DP will be fussed over etc...Mums just do the same shitty stuff they do every other day...
Anyone else feel like this??

Nope I was a complete brat/princess today and after the pop tarts and coffee in bed I languished in bed til lunchtime while dd (7) made me a hand drawn family tree card. Since I got up I have been camped out on the sofa and now the takeaway is on its way here and am about to put a film on. I COULD have done housework etc but I thought that if I treat it like a normal day then everyone else will follow my lead..

You should have downed tools. If you don't set an example by spoiling yourself, do you think the rest will spoil you?

Surely if youve got all day tomorrow to do nothing then it doesnt matter.

Why was your dp asleep all pm? And who will fuss over him on Father's day - not you I hope? Don't do it to yourself.

Nope, you made a rod for your own back there by getting up. If your dc are school age then a full Mothers Day pamper should have commenced. Don't be a matyr to the cause...

I stayed in bed and was woken at 9am with a breakfast card on a tray that admittedly whacked me in the face. I ticked my choice of continental, English etc and then received a sloshing tray of cereal with a card floating in it.

Slept in till 11am and then came down after demanding 15 minutes of ds cuddles to a full a English brunch.

Retired to sofa with iPad and only moved to demand cauliflower cheese. now enjoying Skyfall and cuddles.

Bloody marvelous Grin

I put my back out yesterday.

DH did the laundry run, we were going out to lunch but as I couldnt walk to the pub, he had to do a mad dash to buy stuff to rustle up a Sunday Dinner as his God Mother was coming over for the day. I did the emergency ironing of school uniforms for the morning. I cannot seem to wrestle the TV remote though Grin

Not normally in this house, but DP has a broken hand and it is in plaster. He is not even allowed to use the tips of his fingers to move stuff, so is really one handed. I have had to do everything although he did supervise DD getting breakfast for herself and DS.

being a lone parent i dont get lay ins etc, i used to be spoilt by the ex..was one of few things he did right was presents and "occasions"

but i did get to go and watch my 7 year old play rugby for the first time, and even though it was snowing and bloody cold it was lovely and and i got that all proud feeling in the pit of my stomach, with a shide reminder that the sperm donner is missing this. it was lovely then back to my mums for sunday dinner, she had though brought me a cup cake maker with a pretty whish and frosting, eggs etc from the kids to me. which was lovely.

whislt its not the be all and end all, i get that it hurts that no one puts any effet into it if you are into it . have alovely day tomorrow and make sure you tell dp that you want more effot next year!!

No, I've only got DD1 at home now but she brought me breakfast in bed and also gave me a present and card. I've heard from both my other daughters. We went to church as usual this morning and all Mothers were honoured and given chocolate. DH made me coffee this afternoon and I've had a lazy time just reading. We are going our to dinner. When my children were small and living at home. They helped DH make me breakfast in bed until they were old enough to do it themselves.

Why didn't you just not do all that stuff? I had a massive lie-in, breakfast cooked for me etc etc. No way would I have been dusting and cleaning?
Why does your DP get to sleep all afternoon? He is the problem here...

I got a lie-in, breakfast in bed, card, flowers and chocs. DP, who got up with DD at 5.30am, then spent the afternoon scrubbing the kitchen and bathroom while I took the kids to the park for some freezing air. Pretty good day, am quite pleased with DP as he doesn't always get these kind of things right.

I've not left the sofa all day except to eat the lovely chicken and trimmings lunch made by my husband (sorry to brag)

I do agree that you shouldn't have done all that. My DH is working abroad and DD is 16mo so no lie in / breakfast in bed / gifts for me but we had a nice morning out and then when she napped I parked myself on the sofa with cake and took a well earned break.

Having said that I do acknowledge that everything I didn't do today will still be waiting for me tomorrow. Hmm

I had a lie in and breakfast in bed

I then got up and finished painting my kids rooms, put up shelves, etc and cooked Sunday roast.

I could have sat about in my arse all day, but I'm fed up with half finished bedrooms and wanted them finished

I didn't have a lie in because I never sleep in and in any case my lot didn't get up until 10.30 so I got up and read. I've cooked a roast because I like cooking, everything else has been done by dh and dc. I had a long soak in the bath using my new smellies and a nap this afternoon. It's been a nice day here and I've had some lovely gifts as well.

I had a normal Sunday doing very little. I wouldn't ever take on all the shitwork if there was another adult in the house. Heck, even our dc pull their weight.

I don't ever do the cooking and we have a dishwasher.

I agree with you I have done bare minimum today, to see if DP would think 'its mothers day today since I didn't bother geting you anything from DC I'll do the housework' I got up early with baby, fed kids, got them washed dressed and watched film with DS while DP went upstairs to sulk/sleep cause he couldn't watch football. The dishwasher isnt packed, no hoovering or dusting been done poor doggy missed lunch. So guess I'll have to do all that later, was worth a try though!

Cocky I've robbed too. I did get a lie in, if you think 830am is one I don't. My older boys were off on rugby tour so my Mother's Day consisted of watching DH trying to get DS(3) to write in a card in fecking front of me, opening card whilst pretending to be overwhelmed for the benefit of toddler. Playing horsey with said toddler whilst trying to shred and preparing roast for 9 whilst DH coached his kid rugby team to be fair. Cooking lunch. Washing up. Enter-bloody-taining. Hard-staring at MiL when she comments at how it's nice to do nothing for lunch for MD. Serving. Clearing table. Serving the pudding it took hours to make yesterday. Clearing up. Doing Drinks. Listening to MiL saying thanks to DH for a lovely Mother's Day. Have just plonked arse on sofa. Have informed DH that I will be buying myself some flowers to celebrate me being a mother tomorrow as there are none on windowsill.

Thing is every other year I've had flowers and breakfast in bed so I had expectations! Roooooaaaaar.

Ahhhh feck it. I have Gin. And SL Tonic. Spare calories due to shred. And I ain't putting those four boys in bed. Grin

Next year I'm going to buy flowers the day before and give the kids £2 each to get me something!Wink

Mine has not been great..DD ended up in A&E yesterday after a fall at her first overnight guide camp. She split her lip and knocked her teeth so having to have soup through a straw. So she has been out of action but did make me a lovely card on Friday as she was supposed to have not been back home until this afternoon. Ex H used to organise for DD to get me a present (even since we split up) but this year hasn't bothered.

DP (not DD's Dad) is under the weather with a stomach bug so I have had dinner for one tonight... His teen DCs have been here all weekend (visiting) so I have been cooking and clearing up all weekend. They left early afternoon.

I spent the afternoon gutting DD's pig sty of a room. Roll on work tomorrow, although I will have to get DD an emergency dental appointment first thing.
