I am getting disproportiantely annoyed by things at the moment, I have PMT a headache, I cant drink wine and nor can I have a cup of bastard tea at the moment. So if IABU that it wouldnt suprise me.

I was putting the kids in the car, woman parked in the next row behind me. Rather than push her trolley the four cars width to the trolley bay, she put it directly in front of my car while I was packing up, making it look like I was the lazy bastard leaving it there.

Feeling hormonal and stabby, I plugged the boys in, took the trolley and said "I'll put your trolley back for you." And did so.

Very passive agressive and childish I know.

But does it bother anyone else?

Its the hormones and lack of wine isnt it?

What kind of idiot doesn't put their trolley back? Typical, 'oh, someone else can do it for me' mentality.

I would have put it behind her car so she had to move it to leave

I would have just driven away after I had packed up my shopping. She wasn't actually harming you, regardless of whether she was right or wrong to leave the trolley there. You just felt the need to shout at someone, and she was the first person to cross you.
To be honest, if someone started behaving like you if I had merely not returned a trolley, I would be driving away very quickly. You were very rude to take out your anger on someone you don't know, when they had not harmed you, just crossed your trolley etiquette standards.
As for your comment 'making it look like the lazy bastard who left it there' people don't generally drive round supermarket parks judging random people they never met and getting stressed on account of it. Oh. Apart from you.
The next person to park probably used the trolley.
Did you buy any grips in the supermarket? You really do need to get one.

Could you have left the parking space without damaging your car on the trolley? If so, i would have just left. Otherwise i would have put it back behind her car and drove off.

YANBU. She was lazy. The problem with escaped trollies is they can blow around in the wind and dent/scratch parked cars.

do ye not need to put money in the trolley to get it? i have to use a euro/2 euro coin and will always take it back to bay to get my money back.

Maybe trolley woman had a migraine coming and had to get home before she couldn't see straight. Maybe her sciatica was so painful she had to sit down right there and then before she collapsed. Mayber her period pain was so painful she couldn't stand any longer. Maybe her stoma was leaking and she was dripping poo around the car park. Shall I go on?

My Waitrose have introduced trolley payment this week...there were still abandoned trollies in the car park tonight.
Lazy bastards.

"you just felt the need to shout to her"

Erm, at no point did I raise my voice. There was no hint of shouting in my OP, no agression, no exclamation marks.

I think you must have hidden aggression also lay to be reading shouting that is there. Are you due on to darling? Smile

Shit like that annoys me beyond reason. Just plain ignorance and laziness. Could you not move the trolley back behind her car so she'd have to get out and shift it herself? Sorry if I'm misunderstanding.

I think I might have shouted. That's taking piss-taking laziness to dizzying new heights - you were very restrained, OFDS.

Round these parts all trolleys cost a quid - you have to take them back if you want to see your £1 again.

Same thing happened to me recently. There I was loading kids and shopping in the car and the the silly bint says to her husband 'shall I just leave here then?' I.e just behind my car, knowing full I would then need to move it to reverse out. I don't know how she could have missed us, we're not transparent last I checked. I just looked at her and said 'no you will not, put it away like everyone else.' She did funny enough. Some people are so thoughtless.

Huh. I always leave the trolley with the baby seat near the parent and child space when I've finished. I'm always grateful when it's left there as I arrive (less carpark to cross with baby in arms and not enough hands for handbag and other children, plus bags for life etc.) so I genuinely thought it was better for everyone! I had absolutely no idea that it would piss people off!! Grin

Oh I would never block a car in with it. I put it on the footpath.

Toddle if every car did that, with every trolley they used, can you imagine what a complete nightmare it would be? Trolleys everywhere. Imagine those going in not needing a trolley etc.

My car wasnt blocked in, I could reverse out. It was in front of my car, no word of a lie about half an inch away from the bumper making it look as though I had just dumped it there.

Im wondering if I'll get a string of YABU, if people thought I was blocked in and thats why I was annoyed. That would be extra annoying though.

I do the same toddle, in our local tesco there is a covered walkway by the parent and child spaces, and I leave the trolley in there - the ones with baby seats only stack into others with baby seats, so if you return them to the bays then you are taking up all that space with one trolley that hardly anyone can stack their trolley into, and that would surely annoy more people! And to return to the front of the store would be too far from the car with my baby in it!

So OP, if it was a trolley with a baby seat then I think YABU.
