AIBU?

To be cheesed off with Save the Children?

One of their adverts was on TV last night asking people to text and donate £5 to Save the Children. As well as my regular monthly donations to a couple of charities, I do respond to these kinds of appeals occasionally and so texted the number and donated the fiver.

I was v.v.v. cheesed off today at work to recieve a call on my mobile from Save the Children wanting to persuade me to sign up to a regular donation tell me about some of their projects. I told the chugger person that I was at work and couldn't take the call.

Quite honestly, if I'd thought for a moment that they would do that I wouldn' have made the donation. I'm reasonably generous with charities, but hate being on the recieving end of a hard sell. Its put me right off making these kinds of spontaneous text donations ever again, which has really cheesed me off.

AIBU? I don't think I am.

YANBU, you basically paid £5 to be spammed. Not exactly a great purchase!

I made an online donation to UNICEF and they had one of this boxes to uncheck if you don't want spam. It was phrased in a really odd way and I ha to reanit a couple of times to figure out whether to check or uncheck. That annoyed me!

Yanbu - they shouldn't use your number for that purpose although there is probably fine print on the advert in teeny tiny letters that says they will

YANBU.

I filled in a petition on here a few weeks ago for the Children's Society, supporting Free School Meals. They have called me every day for 2 weeks now, (I've programmed the number into my phone, so just send it straight to voicemail). It makes you regret supporting some charities - you give / support, but they just want more and more.

I work p/t and give 15% of my net salary to various charities. I don't want to sign up for any more.
