AIBU?

To not believe celebrities when they talk about their diets

Those articles in magazines where they ask a celeb about their typical day's food intake and its always:

Breakfast: Bowl of porridge with blueberries and mango stirred through

Lunch: A vegetable stir fry

Dinner: Some grilled fish and a salad

I bet most of them live on crisps, cigarettes and free champagne.

YABU. Most celebs are slim so probs have a dull healthy diet.

YANBU - I hate the way they always say they eat like a horse in interviews when they look so malnourished that their bones may snap.

Drugs and/or personal trainers Grin

Well as is constantly proved on here...everyone's different. Some people can get away with eating unhealthily and still look slim and others can't.

But actually it wouldn't surprise me if that was a typical day's food for many people.

But that doesn't mean they don't treat themselves to chocolate/crisps/Maccy Dees now and then too.

YANBU. I think most super slim celebs survive on a diet of diet coke and fags apart from the ones that obviously work out and look fit and healthy. Most of them admit it when they write those tell-alls when their celebrity status and fame is waning.

It's annoying but when people are honest they get slated.

I worked at a magazine where June Brown said smoking was her favourite thing in the world.

We were buried under the avalanche of angry letters. Like as if Dot Cotton is a role model to impressionable young children.

Posh spice is prime example of someone who severely restricts her calories, is a smoker. (Although is v careful not to be seen smoking) -is v thin.

I think they probably lie about what they eat, but their caloric intake has to be small - whether it be crisps or broiled fish.

Floggingmolly · 13/02/2013 11:44

Fags, diet coke and black coffee.

I am sure I read that Liz Hurley survives on boiled fish and brown rice. Wouldnt like to be near her, I bet her farts are rank!

Saski · 13/02/2013 11:48

Ugh. Liz Hurley. I have an unreasonable hatred for her. Why?

I they it's quite a lot of coke as well by way of appetite suppressant.

Bogeyface · 13/02/2013 11:50

Saski probably because you can't actually work out why she is so famous. She shagged Hugh Grant for a bit, eons ago, and has acted (very badly) in a couple of films and a couple of TV dramas.

I dont get why she is so famous!

I think much worse is when they bang on about how they eat loads, love puddings and hardly exercise - such lies! And so unfair to teenage girls who are wondering what's wrong with them that they follow the same 'regime' and aren't rake thin.

You have to basically be malnourished to be as thin as the size zero celebs - nasty.

Saski · 13/02/2013 11:52

Well, Bogeyface, she is dating an incredibly sexy & manly person right now who is famous in Australia.

But if they survived on fags, diet coke and black coffee they'd need face peels and cosmetic procedures ALL the time till they had no skin left 'cos in RL their skin would look like an elephants.

The air brushing does them no favours IMO Grin

True Saski but she only got him through being Liz Hurley the brand.

IT was the the safety pins but that was years ago!

Agree about the acting skills (or lack of them) of Liz Hurley, a tree has more expression Grin

Did you ever see her in Sharpe? She was supposed to be this young sexy woman married to an older rich man to get her out of her life of prostitution (I think it was). She was dreadful, not the sexy seductress at all, even when she got her tits out!

See this is why some slim people just can't win.

The OP's saying she "doesn't believe that's a typical day's food intake and she bets most of them live on crisps, cigarettes and free champagne..."

And someone else is saying they think it's worse "when they bang on about how they eat loads, love puddings and hardly exercise - such lies! And so unfair to teenage girls who are wondering what's wrong with them that they follow the same 'regime' and aren't rake thin."

It doesn't have to be lies.

The OP is a fairly typical food intake for some and why shouldn't it be? I don't see what's wrong with it.

And equally, eating loads, loving puddings and hardly exercising doesn't automatically mean someone is telling lies.

Everyone is different. None of us are the same so why so many people are interested in what others eat is beyond me Confused

Ok WOrra but Fern whatsername kind of proved the celeb lies didnt she? She claimed it was diet and exercise when she lost loads of weight but then later admitted it was a gastric band.

I am sorry but I dont believe that every single skinny celeb is either just born that way, or genuinely eats a healthy diet.

Report
CailinDana · 13/02/2013 12:12

But seriously Bogey, do people really care? I mean if someone lies about having a gastric band, so what?

True WorralLibertyit seems that the more obese society becomes the more emphasis there is on food and cooking but not health.
