YANBU
Breastfeeding in public would be much less of a big deal if people made less of a fuss about boobs. Their primary function is feeding babies which should not be offensive and therefore needing covered.

I do agree with you, but I rather dislike anyone being half dressed on the street... or more specifically in the queue at the coffee shop, blurgh.

I'm not sure if that made sense but it did in my head...

I'd be happier if men didn't. Usually an awful sight. Have deen a few gusset dampening exceptions

No don't want to see tits unless a baby attached and in that case it's fine.

Don't want to see make tits either unless David Beckham is wearing them.

Seriously though if that was one of my dds doing that I would feel a failure as a mother and have taught them what?? Get your tits out to sell stuff?

The exact opposite of breast feeding really so no don't agree with you at all. Sad that they felt the need to do this really.

Going topless for women is legal here in Canada, but very few people choose to indulge. You also still have to respect rule in shops and restaurants and such.

it was just strange that she was targetted and the guy was ignored and allowed to carry on with his top off.

They weren't selling stuff! They were advertising a nudist event!

I'd go the other way and prefer if there was a minimum level of coverage for everyone, with top halves being covered for both sexes.

I've always thought that men and women should equally be able to walk around topless even though I wouldn't choose to do it myself.

I don't particularly want to see anyone walking down the high street without a top on but I don't understand why a woman would get arrested and a man wouldn't.

It's weird when you think about it.

The commoner the gentleman, the more he takes off in warm weather. I will wear my summerweight tootal scarf for warm weather and may don a lighter shade of trenchcoat. Anything else is sheer exhibitionism.

Compos you are wrong. A linen suit and a tan, that is the summer attire.

Seriously, no one should be allowed to have their shirt off in the city in the summer. The worst is a scarlet skinned, shaven headed (I can't help but think about sunstroke), ugly man, with a football shirt tucked into the arsecrack-showing baggy shorts.

I agree it should be the same rules for both.

but why is she challenged but not the guy? agreed, i don't need to see either sex topless in the street but what makes her indecent and not the guy. why is she made to feel ashamed of her body but not him? it was uncomfortable to watch.

I'm an American who lives in New England. Several years ago, we had a local hot dog cart manned by attractive young women in bikinis. Men ogling the women caused several auto accidents. Men have enough trouble concentrating, so I'm not sure how well it would work in practice.
I have been to a nude beach. I was topless but not bottomless. It's fun, but needs lots of sunblock.

I would look like the man from del monte's gormless younger brother in that getup.

I'm not sure that;

Women, you can't do that.

Why?

Coz (some) men are idiots and can't concentrate on driving;

is a good enough reason really.

Well, it would probably cause all the poor men, who have no control over their own faculties, to lose the run of themselves initially. Hmm Or not, if they're functioning adults.

But then the novelty would wear off, and the sight of women's breasts would be as neither-here-nor-there to them, as the sight of a man's torso is to us. Or the sight of naked women's breasts is to men who live in societies where they are on display a bit more.

tbf I'd probably look if I saw a load of topless women on the street as I was driving past, just beacuse it's an unusual sight. I'd also look if I saw a load of people dressed as Mr Blobby.

but what makes her indecent and not the guy

Entrenched sexism and fetishisation of the female form. But I agree, I don't want to see either.

Too bloody bad. That's like saying men can't be trusted not to rape so women should wear long skirts and high collars.

I don't particularly want to see men or women topless walking down the street because, well, I'm a bit of a prude if I'm honest but that's just a rubbish argument.

It's because we (society) have sexualised breasts. They're not mammary glands, there to feed the young. They're pert sexy things, shoved into push up bras, there to arouse...

That's partly why some people do the whole 'disgusted' thing about breastfeeding. Those people see breasts as sexual. Whether they admit it or not.

That said, I think everyone looks better with (decent and well fitting) clothes on, so I'd pitch for the keeping ON of men's tops, rather than the taking off of women's Grin
