AIBU to think that grown adults should know the difference between these two words?, My boss has just asked for that 'Pacific email' instead of Specific.

Was it an email about the Pacific ocean? If not, please pelt said boss with walnuts.

Greatdomestic · 25/01/2013 14:20

i used to have a manager who did this all the time. It was the least of her many faults thoughSmile

BeebiesQueen · 25/01/2013 14:20

if fairness, I actually cant say specific Blush and it always comes out pacific or spfiffic. I do know the diffrence, I just cant say the diffrence

boredSAHMof4 · 25/01/2013 14:25

you have to think of it as 'pecific not pacific!!

stargirl1701 · 25/01/2013 14:27

YANBU!

Nancy66 · 25/01/2013 14:27

Did he say

'Can I get that pacific email from yourself?'

...if so, I think you're within your rights to kill him.

Happiestinwellybobs · 25/01/2013 14:27

My old boss used to say this too. YANBU... Surely they are two very different words.

TiggerWearsATriteSmile · 25/01/2013 14:32

I had a colleague that said this.
I corrected him so he wouldn't be embarrassed. He then embarrassed himself further by getting completely tongue tied and stumbling over it.

He avoids the word completely now :)

My ears are happy

FreshLeticia · 25/01/2013 15:22

And 'burtatoes' for 'potatoes'
It begins with a P FFS!

LadyMercy · 25/01/2013 15:37

Pacific is an ocean damnit!

specialsubject · 25/01/2013 15:53

'please pelt said boss with walnuts. '

brilliant.

remember that most managers are only there because they are incapable of doing the job.

MrsMelons · 25/01/2013 17:35

I was in a training session this week and the woman delivering one of the sessions said 'pacific' about 15 times in an hour instead of 'specific', it really got on my nerves.

I must say I didn't think that it may be something she just couldn't say, I feel quite bad now.

countrykitten · 25/01/2013 18:21

Never ever come across this one. Potatoe's annoys me though.
