...I suffer from this debilitating condition and wonder if there is any help for people like me. My house is a complete fucking shit tip, my children are currently fighting over who eats the last biscuit, I am constantly in a state of worry that I have posted the wrong thing or missed something... all I can do is keep refreshing the page while chaos reins.

Delete the bloody thing then... block the websites... get an arsing life...

I really can't delete my FB page as my business is thriving on there and you need to have your personal account to keep the business one open

YANBU - AIBU is addictive... !

Crawling · 23/01/2013 16:26

The best thing I saw was a internet addiction forum thats like holding alcoholics anonymous in a pub.

blindinglight · 23/01/2013 16:29

Crawling - I need that forum in my life. I think... Confused

YANBU. I am a regular on another parenting forum, addicted to FB like many, and also in the process of planning a big holiday which obviously involves being on the TripAdvisor forums all day long.

I really could have done without discovering the joys of MN and AIBU as well recently.

yanbu Blush

McNewPants2013 · 23/01/2013 16:30

Yanbu.

I spend way too much time on the Internet, I sometimes think how did my mum and nan cope without the Internet when raising children ( if I got a question then google or mumsnet will have the answer)

SashaSashays · 23/01/2013 16:32

YANBU I quite often ban myself from mn and certain other sites for a month of 2 otherwise I get too addicted.

I usually get my cousin to set something up so its blocked on my laptop and iPad.

I am sick.

3monkeys3 · 23/01/2013 16:34

Yanbu! I really want to reduce my Internet usage - I think I could achieve much more with my time if I did. I am not to bad on Facebook though - just check it a couple of times a day for a few minutes.

blindinglight · 23/01/2013 16:35

I sometimes wonder what my mum did when we were growing up. We were never in so she wasn't creating fantastic creative games for us ... my children are always in (do I don't do the latter either). We never had a particularly tidy/sparkly clean house (either do I) but I can at least blame my hapless condition...what the hell was she doing for all those house/days/moths/years without the internet?

Winternight · 23/01/2013 16:37

I've never really got the FB addiction thing - I'm on it, but spend more time on it playing games than actually interracting with anyone else, so I don't really get that sense of compulsion other people have.

But yes, with MN I have been quite addicted at different times - much less so recently. If you have a break for whatever reason then when you go back you care much less, I've found. Now I can dip in and out very easily - that didn't used to be the case.

ShephardsDelight · 23/01/2013 16:42

True, true! its so addictive.

Pilgit · 23/01/2013 16:43

i have it too - if my multitasking could extend beyond feeding baby, drinking tea and surfing MN orFB to include housework i'd be a domestic goddess! as it is slummy mummy about sums it up.

Ragwort · 23/01/2013 16:44

I don't have FB - but I spend far too long on MN .

Ragwort · 23/01/2013 16:44

The best thing is reading all the housework threads, do people really spend that much time cleaning their house, clearly they are not using MN properly Grin.

getoffthecoffeetable · 23/01/2013 16:46

I have it too. Was only thinking this morning that I need some time away from the Internet then checked mn again and my fb

MoodyDidIt · 23/01/2013 16:48

i felt like this a while back and cut down my use loads has crept back up again now though

blindinglight · 23/01/2013 16:50

So are we resigned to the fact that this is our life now... how the hell do you have a break from FB or MN? What do you do when you sit down with your 56th cup of coffee?

You can switch fb/mumsnet off? Hmm

IShallWearMidnight · 23/01/2013 16:55

I got away with "no now, Mummy's working" till DD3 was able to read "m...u...m...s...n...e...t.. that doesn't say MidnightsBusiness, does it mummy?" Grin.

blindinglight · 23/01/2013 16:58

wewereherefirst
