he had a little pain when they put in the local anesthetic

he felt uncomfortable between coming out of the room and getting on the sofa at home.

then nothing..
no discomfort
honestly like nothing had happened

he is not being brave, he is not hiding anything it really really just doesn't hurt.

I am not wishing pain on him, just had really set up for bag of peas and waiting on him hand and foot kind of thing.

is it really unusual?

My DH had his last week. Very very slightly sore, but other than that no pain at all. Happily went to work the next day.

And here in the anonymity of MN I can admit that after all the hell I've been through with contraception I am jealous that he has breezed through!!!!

I hope that it is the norm: DH is having his in a fortnight. I might have to show him your OP to keep his spirits up if he starts worrying!

A friend of mine was back riding his motorcycle just a couple of days after his, he did strap a cushion to the seat though. Grin

My dh was fine for a week (9+ years ago) then got a minor wound infection that needed a short course of antibiotics.

But he got the all-clear at 3 months and never had another worry!!!!

Don't want to hijack your thread but I've always wondered when a man has had a vasectomy...when he reaches 'that moment' does anything come out????

Feel free to laugh at my stupidness, then tell me the answer!

apparently tis all good and normal

Yes stuff still comes out but there's no swimmers.

I'm guessing you don't want to know about DHs snip? It wasn't a good one, should have realised it wasn't going to go well when he was sent home with antibiotics.

I always wondered the same Anne BlushGrin

There was me hoping a blow job would be a slightly more pleasant experience after the snip [totally lowers the tone of the thread]

My husband was the same - had about an hour of moping about on the sofa once the local anaesthetic had worn off and then zilch pain at all. I was all ready to dispense Nurofen and sympathy and none was required! (Luckily really as I am no bloody Florence Nightingale and I was narked about him having it done!)

Blue Monkey, I really hated doing blow jobs before because of ahem the taste and amount involved but it's much better now - almost tasteless and er MUCH less copious [Lowers the tone of the thread beyond salvageable level.]

I do not feel guilty about any 'discomfort' DH may have had due to the fact he had said Vasectomy on the the Thursday & by Saturday he was having very naughty thoughts about me-I can safely say that after pushing both dc out of my fucking fanjo it was at least 6 weeks before I even thought about a fuck Hmm -no comparison!!!

Anyway DH says apparently this is normal-tell him by Saturday he will be fantasizing & it works as soon as he feels up to it Grin

A man who has had that done can still blow his load this his prostate controls the seminal fluid, its just no swimmers will be in it, (sorry TMI lol)

Apparently when my DF returned from the hospital after having his op I punched him in the crotch Blush little angel that I was - so his wasn't so painless I suppose...

I remember my DH getting upset before his vasectomy and telling me I could not imagine how invasive the procedure was and how uncomfortable etc. Having had 2 babies I was incredulous and told him to get real. I'd been reasonably sympathetic but...

He did have the grace to apologise after.

My dh was ok initially then got the most awful infection and was off work for 2 weeks!

OldLady - am astonished your chap was back on his motorbike after a couple of days. Friend of mine has just had the snip - also no more than slight discomfort - but was specifically told no bike riding (motor or otherwise) for four weeks.

DH had very painful complications and I felt really guilty about pushing him into it. He's all fine now, and as he heroically said, it's still not as bad as EMCS and forceps deliveries, so I'm still ahead, but I would much rather he'd breezed through, because I did feel awful, especially when we were worried about more serious complications.

depends, dh had pain for a good few days and everything bruised up quite a bit but he was put under for his and so was a bit groggy too.

Perhaps I won't show DH this thread after all!

I was wondering how long it might take a man to want sex again afterwards. I tried google, which seems full of stories of those who were up for it very shortly post op (more blood in the area for healing leading to the usual consequences of more engorgement?). Is that typical, or Internet bravado?

Also, there's commonly given advice that the first few ejaculations should be from him wanking (so he is in control). Good advice, or unnecessary precaution?

DH sat about on the sofa for the afternoon and the following day but no serious pain, think he might have popped a couple of nurofen mid-afternoon the day he had it done but that was it. Compared to when he'd caught one in the nuts from a softball and was hospitalised he said it barely registered!

Apparently my dad had his done in his lunch hour and went back to school and taught all afternoon (old school 1970s/80s PE teacher Grin).
