I'll let you know in about six months.

uptheamp Threads from months or years ago. I've just spent ages reading a zombie thread about wedding photography to discover it's yesterday's news.

No, many people find mumsnet by googling something they are worried about, a link to an old thread comes up and they post on before realising its an idle thread.

I suppose it's ok if you revive and say 'I've revived this thread because...' but to drag it out and continue chatting on it as though 5 years haven't elapsed is a bit strangeConfused

I'm with you Mardy - it does my head in Confused

Oh yes. MNers would never argue with MNHQ over the rules.

Can't really lay down the law.... People are as free to post on them as they are current threads!!

Report
AmberLeaf · 05/01/2013 11:49

No not at all.

The content of thread is often informative and helpful, they don't have a use by date on them.

I think people who post Zombie thread on revived older threads should be banned! ok I don't really, but I do think it makes them look silly.

A big sign or something to make it obvious it's an old one would be useful.

So isn't an opinion relevant in time, or do we just close our minds and keep our mouths shut?

Report
TanteRose · 05/01/2013 11:50

Would be good if they could be flagged with a colour

Oh I dont know, poor bastards can't win really.

New to MN, look up a subject, contribute to an old thread,( not knowing its not the 'done thing') gets lambasted.

Starts a new thread on a subject that's been done a zillion times, gets lambasted.

It's a lose/lose.

I think all posts being dated is a bit of a give away really. Its not that hard to check the date is it?

If you post without checking the date, you can't really get annoyed at people for bringing up old threads.

Report
LadyBeagleEyes · 05/01/2013 11:52

I agree with Mardy.
Just start a new thread.

Report
MardyBra · 05/01/2013 11:52

Why not start a new one and get new opinions Mugoftea (unless it's about P&T parking)? Otherwise we're posting and debating with people who might not even be here any more.
