Waitrose, well...I refer in particular to the indian ready meal range, yuck, I challenge them to do better. I was breifly (so don't shoot me if this thread has ran already) looking at previous threads on subject and in 2010 it was thought pretentious by some to shop there. It used to be so good I am really dissapointed now, especially after spending extra money on christmas treats just to be dissapointed. I used to look forward to spoiling myself occasionally in waitrose. AIBU to not shop there again.

Mmm. I like a lot of their stuff, not had the Indian as we've got a perfectly good takeaway right down the road, but other stuff I like a lot.

If you don't like it, don't buy it!

That Martin Lewis bloke from the money saving website does a programme, I caught the tail end of one where he had basic brand, main brand, and the exclusive brand of the same product. In taste tests few could tell the differnce and over 60% preferred the basics product.

I got some of their Indian ready meals last night and they were fine. Obviously not as good as a proper take away but better than other ready meals.

2 meals, 1 rice and 2 side dishes for £10.

Don't start me on bastarding waitrose.

I used to be a huge fan until they appeared this week with out millions of things from my order and no substitustions or ridiculous ones.

I have a 4 weeks old baby and was really hard to get put to the shops. Hence my early order with them.

Despite this, they turned up with no turkey and no substitute. I had ordered 2 750g sticky toffee puddings. Their substitute was one packet of individual microwaveable puddings -110g each. I could go on...

I was meant to be having a special belated Christmas meal with my parents and they totally ruined it. I was in tears and we had to make a special dash to M&S who thankfully had plenty of lovely food in stock. I had ordered all of my food at least 2 weeks before the delivery date so I'm totally at a loss as to why practically nothing appeared to be in stock. Aren't online orders taken in to consideration when the shops place their orders?

I will NEVER order from or shop at Waitrose again and we were spending around £600 a month there at least.

YABU. I am an asda shopper due to lack of funds. I've been staying at my mums for 10 days over xmas. She's a waitrose & M&S food shopper. Everything is delicious. It's not even just the taste, going in the shop you don't get out of date milk still on the shelves (asda!!! several times!) and all the fruit is nice and perfect! :)

YANBU I shopped there recently, spent over double what I usually would and was disgusted at the quality of some of their stuff.

It really has gone massively downhill from when I last shopped there and will not be going back any time soon.

I am a young, bedraggled, tired mum, so I think I belong in asda. Waitrose is full of posh old ladies. It's nice to have a clientel change

I've never had an experience even close to that, my store that deliver are lovely and even ring to me to ask what my preference is if they need to sub a big item (eg. a large joint of meat or party foods etc)

Holly - yes exactly. Probably 80% of my shop most weeks is Essential Waitrose items, so their basic range. It is delicious, good quality, the fruit and veg last very well so I have very little waste.

No Indian ready meals are ever as good as takeaways or the freshly cooked real thing. Other than that Waitrose is brilliant.

The £10 Indian meal deal is great. The Goan fish curry and prawn one are lovely, and the potato cakes and allo gobi saag sides are great too. Plus a lemon rice, bargain.
Lamb and chicken ones are just average.

YABU, as all this from my local takeaway would cost considerably more than a tenner and be a lot fattier. Plus it's really handy to have in the freezer for a "cant be arsed" evening.

OP YANBU to shop there again if you don't want to. Would be a shame as their prosecco is lovely.

However it seems that fucking up christmas online shopping is classless as Asda did it our area. Didnt affect me but it was in the local paper.

The daft boy who appeared with it all at least had the decency to look shame faced. I suspect he was the picker and, with the greatest of respect, I don't think a 17 year old boy is best placed to pick substitutions - hence the sticky toffee pudding debacle. It not just picking another thing. It needs to be the right amount/weight. Rather than 8 people sharing 2 microwaveable puddings

All the subs/no shows also buggered up all my 3 for 2 offers etc so ended up paying lots more or not getting the free thing which I think is pretty poor.

What was most annoying was the message saying I couldn't cancel the turkey which I thought meant they were ordering it for me but instead they don't turn up with the bastarding thing!

OP - sorry to hijack your thread! We have had the Indian meal and it was really nice. However, we won't be having it again

I shop there as a) I lose the will to live in tesco/asda as the aisles seem too narrow the queue is always a mile long, and b) they deliver for free if you spend over £40 online. Their essential stuff is great and price matched to other supermarkets.
And I have a membership for my local council gym, the lloyds one literally next door is full of posie knob ends.

I prefer M&S if I want something "special" as I think Waitrose is no better but more expensive.

However I do all my day to day shopping at Aldi and find it equal in quality of basic items just less choice.

YANBU is you don't like it.

I love it, it's not more expensive and they have such lovely lovely things there, it's my 'special treats if I've been good' supermarket as their special treats are very special and cheaper than Tesco. If I planned my menus properly I would shop there all the time instead of buying far too much crap from another supermarket and ending up chucking half of it away.

I don't choose to shop at waitrose for the food as much as i find it a much more pleasant experience. Every time i come out of there i am happy and whenever i leave tescos i am in a foul mood.

I also love laughing at their essentials range. Panna cotta is nice, but essential , Really?

This wouldn't really work with it being store based picking. If it's there on the day for the customer instore, it'll be there for the online picker.
