...because when he comes to do my windows he's always got his hands free up and running and has a full on telephone conversation whilst he is cleaning my windows.I was outside working away and i just felt it was really rude of him and i didn't like to hear him gnattering away about SFA in a thick cockney accent talking about boxing and rubbish like that whilst he was cleaning my windows.I think he can eff off next time i don't like him.

Cockney accent? Would it be ok if he spoke RP?

I was ill in bed once, curtains drawn, little window open and heard window cleaners talking about his date the night before, which he thought was going well in the pub but then it turned out to be a crap date as he 'got nothing from her' (I presume he meant sexually) and that he'd taken her to Pizza Hut and everything!

I thought it was a given that Pizza Hut on a date was least at BJ!!

Why am i weird Laurie ?

What is RP CreamofTomatoSoup?

I tried having a conversation with him and i expect not to be dissed whilst communicating with him especially when it takes him 20 minutes to do my windows for £25 .I don't think it is weird to ask for a bit of common courtesy.I think you must be weird Laurie if you don't agree

Wearing a trappist type habit would be cold up a ladder and it might blow up when windy.

CreamOfTomatoSoup Thu 29-Nov-12 16:40:39

Received Pronunciation- like posh people speak on radio 4.

usualsuspect3 Thu 29-Nov-12 16:41:51

Do you not talk while you work then?

TheVermiciousKnid Thu 29-Nov-12 16:42:43

I think you must be weird Laurie if you don't agree

Excellent, that's this AIBU settled then. Anybody who disagrees with the OP is weird. Next! grin

YABU!

(Yes, I'm obviously weird too.)

CreamofTomatoSoup

I agree the concept needs a bit of work. Perhaps they could sew lead weights into the bottom of their habits.

Cold would be an acceptable penance especially if chilly nether regions helped surpress inappropriate thoughts.

usualsuspect3 Thu 29-Nov-12 16:43:29

Would you have felt better if he was talking about the rugby and opera?

Oh Christ I'd annoy the hell out of you then.

I'm not a window cleaner but I chatter away all day at work in a cockney accent.
No one has ever complained.

<worries everyone at work is pissed off with me but just not saying it>

<sits on the weird bench>

I love threads like these.

Op-AIBU?
Yes
No I'm not, you are weird.

Why are you asking then?

TheVermiciousKnid Thu 29-Nov-12 16:46:24

You have a cockney accent, Tantrums? Are you sure you're allowed on Mumsnet? hmm

<moves to the other end of the weird bench>

But Tantrums you don't type in Cockney!

BeRudeNotTo Thu 29-Nov-12 16:47:34

No i don't give a damn what he talks about and in what accent ,i don't like people having a conversation in my property as if he is talking to himself.I find it rude.End of thread

TheVermiciousKnid Thu 29-Nov-12 16:48:00

Exactly, Chaz! She's been misleading us. <mutters>

ihaverunoutofnicknameideas Thu 29-Nov-12 16:48:49

As long as he was actually cleaning windows at the same time it would not bother me who he was talking to/ what about/ in what accent!

It's hard to type cockney.

But yes, that's how I speak. I quite like it actually grin

Although someone did ask me why I haven't had elocution lesson, as it poorly represents my company.

Maybe it was the op?

usualsuspect3 Thu 29-Nov-12 16:49:49

Sorry, you can't just end a thread. That's a bit rude.

Op, so he had the phone to his ear and was talking on your property is that ok or not?

end of thread

But clearly not. Because we are still posting aren't we?

You can't actually tell people it's the end of the thread.

Cos it is not.

usualsuspect3 Thu 29-Nov-12 16:52:17

In fact, this thread will run and run now grin
