To warn you all about the hazards of shopping at Very.co.uk

You know when you make one (inadvertent) mistake and you pay for it every day for a decade afterwards...

I ordered a dress from Very in October. I arranged for it to get delivered using the Click + Collect facility (where the courier takes it to a designated C+C shop and you pick it up when convenient) Basically, I got really bad gastroenteritis when it was delivered and I was stuck in for two weeks and never collected the dress. C+C sent me an email to say it had been returned to Very, as I hadn't been able to collect it. Thought no more of it.

Then Very sent a statement asking for the payment for this dress. DH rang them and explained that I hadn't collected it. They said they would try and trace it and not to worry. So we didn't pay any money. Then we started getting phonecalls from their payments department demanding money or else they would charge us for late payment Confused DH said that that wasn't going to happen and that thet were going to be sensible and speak to the department chasing the missing parcel...

A few weeks to now, they have rang more times (we have just ignored the phone tbh, they are morons) We have been emailing their "customer services" department regularly to ask on the status of this. Yesterday they emailed back to say they had found the parcel and the £25 would be credited to our account.

So just logged into my account and they HAVE refunded the £35 but there is £25 (the late charges!) still waiting to be paid. They're having a laugh, right?

So I just wanted to warn you that they are an arse of a company and honestly, they're overpriced, terrible at customer service, staffed by script-reading robots and they try and shaft money out of you for their errors.

If you value your sanity, you will want to avoid.

Angry

So they're trying to charge £25 for delivery to C&C and back to them again?

Are they using winged unicorns for delivery or what?

No no noooooo

They are trying to charge us £25 late payment fees, for an item we never had.

The dimbos.

Even stranger.

Are they Very dim or what?

Do you have records of collection by Very from C&C?

It does take them about a fortnight/three weeks to update the online account. Even if you pay by DD and they know exactly how much they are getting, your account doesn't show it for a good few weeks.

It might drop off? Otherwise, email them and they'll waive the fees. I don't see how they can charge under the circumstances.

They strike me as the sort of company to ruin a credit rating too.

Might be worth double, triple checking you've fully left their evil clutches.

Yes, I have the email from C+C to say it went back and even the tracking number.

Have just emailed them a abrupt email telling them that I want my account set to zero £s.

I've used Very for years and hand on heart have never, ever had a problem with them.

I usually pay on the 3 interest free payments. I bought a throw from them on the 18th September, the filling has started to come out. I phoned them yesterday and they have credited me the £110 back to the account and they haven't even picked it up, picking it up Friday. I, also, missed the deadline to send a dress back, phoned and explained, no problem, picked it up the next day!

That's what we're worried about, Kitty! We have a white credit record! I'm not having this shower of divs ruining that!

They did a Very similar thing to me.

I bought a table and chairs set from them. When I went to assemble the table, the top was damaged and unusable, so I called them and they said they'd send out a replacement. That came a few days later, but the delivery blokes knew nothing about collecting the original one. I rang Very again and they said I would have to arrange its return separately. In the meantime, my account had been charged £120 for an additional table top. Not impressed, I rang a third time and was told that this charge would be removed once the original table top was returned. Despite having tried to sort this out on my previous phone call, it transpired that the collection still hadn't been booked. I think it took a further four phone calls before anyone actually came to pick up the table top, and in the meantime I had incurred "late payment" charges for the £120. Although that figure was deducted from my balance eventually, the late payment charges were left and after a couple of shouty letters, I paid it because I am a mug.

I will never buy from them again and have urged everyone I know to give them a wide berth.

Very are a NIGHTMARE!!!!

I am currently in dispute with them too. I owe them £118 for 2 units that I already paid for when I ordered them. The extra charges are because their courier damaged them as they were lying in a can for Weeks even though I'd waited in on 5 separate occasions for them. I asked when I would be refunded and got a very snippy email back today explaining it all to me as if I was stupid. Er Very the only stupid ones are your employees and the only stupid thing I've done is ordered from you.

Try emailing HQ they are slightly less thick and actually respond unlike customer services.

"the late payment charges were left and after a couple of shouty letters, I paid it because I am a mug. "

I am suspicious that they are thinking that if they just make it difficult for me to dispute this, I will pay up to get them off my back.

Well I won't. That's how these wanky companies become so rich.

Why oh why did I order that frigging dress?! I've ordered sod else from them but I really liked this one dress. I really wish I hadn't bothered now :(

Had exactly the same problem with littlewoods (their sister catalogue, that likes to charge nearly double for the same thing). Told me i had recieved a dress and owed them £85, i hadnt even ordered it, they had proof i had picked it up from c&c, i had proof i was on holiday at the time they were talking about. i won.

Because of the price increase ive since ordered a very catalogue, they have spelt my surname wrong from the start, i've told them numerous times and now am sick of ringing them to point it out, recently got a credit report done and surprise, its not even on it as the surname is wrong.

They have never let me use click and collect thouvgh, whenever i try to arrange for an item to be sent to a local shop, the order gets declined with no reason, if i go back and order the same thing but click to deliver to my house it mysteriously goes through, weird how I have to pay the p&p isnt it. not trying to make money of me much Hmm.

There both a pile of crap tbh.

This isn't about my gastroenteritis but since you asked... I didn't eat a thing for the first week and then for the second week, I was so piss-weak and fatigued that I couldn't even bring myself to walk to the shops.

Hmmm in their defence a few years ago, they wrote to me to say
We are just checking your very large order of £3k of tech gadgets so please call us.

Needless to say I had been done over by fraudsters using my name, DOB etc to place a phony credit order.

Read reviews on here - I wish I had before ordering!

sounds like my old bank..... barclays..... a bank error made me £400 OD (it was an account i didnt even use with about £1 left in cause i hadnt got round to closing it)

yes i too was charged for this..... it was even called "bank error" on their system....
and was charged for going over my over draft
and charged for something else

they then wouldnt let me close the account (due to the unpaid charges) but eventually as a gesture of good will canceled the charges, they had charged me for their bank error.

"Only giving them 1 star (as there was not an option for 0)

Made the mistake of opening a Very account yesterday and after missing adding my 10% off first order code called to speak to someone(in the credit team) who was either having a bad day or was on a man period!!

He was the rudest most aggressive person i have ever spoken to and was just pure insulting!!! He basically gave the impression i was trying to defraud the company as I had dared to ask for my Wifes Christmas present to go to my parents address!! (as we would not be in!!!) I know, I am the criminal mastermind of our age!!!"

LOL at "man period" (from the review site)
