To use DHs toothbrush

And not tell him. Hes a bit funny about it, but I dropped mine down the loo last night and my mouth feels too ick to go to the shops and get a new one without a quick brush first.

Have to admit to nearly posting last night asking if IWBU to just fish mine out and use it anyway...

Conflugenglugen Sun 18-Nov-12 11:33:28

YABU, but I can understand your quandary.

Marrow Sun 18-Nov-12 11:35:35

YABU! Eurgh! How can you use someone else's toothbrush? I'd be furious if my DH did this to me. Just swill some toothpaste round your mouth.

bedmonster Sun 18-Nov-12 11:35:36

YABU!! I'm guessing you've shared more intimate stuff than a few mouth germs but I would NEVER toothbrush share - ask him very nicely to go and get you a new one smile

honeytea Sun 18-Nov-12 11:38:34

I asume you have sex/kiss with your DP? if so you are bound to share more bodily fluids with him that way. YANBU at all. If he is that worried couldn't you just poor some boiling water over it to get rid of your girl germs?

whois Sun 18-Nov-12 11:38:44

YANBU

Use it, don't say anything, it won't hurt him.

You kiss yeah? You have sex? Sharing a toothbrush can't be more icky than that!

DuddlePuck Sun 18-Nov-12 11:39:12

He's at work sad guess its a finger brush and try not to breathe on anyone at the shop...

DuddlePuck Sun 18-Nov-12 11:41:49

... But on the other hand; he's at work, so he'll never know ;)

Oh the dilemma!

To brush or not to brush?

Funny the two camps on this, it wouldn't bother me, but people that are bothered seem <really> bothered!

forevergreek Sun 18-Nov-12 11:47:11

Of course. We often do. We share more bodily fluids at other times! I doubt a bit of saliva is going to traumatise the man

cryhavoc Sun 18-Nov-12 11:48:49

Not at all. I would. But I have a very high gross threshold.

shinyblackgrape Sun 18-Nov-12 11:49:14

DH and I have electric toothbrushes that are identical. I'm pretty sure we've got them mixed up on occasion.

I mentioned to DH (with a sick face) a few years ago that this was minging and said I'd keep mine somewhere else.

DH pointed out that I would probably get more "germs" from having his cock in my mouth blush which kind of out things is perspective......

DH is a total clean freak.....and a dentist.....so now I don't worry too much.

In all seriousness, I don't think he would advocate total strangers sharing or having a "family" toothbrush that the dog uses too (yes, he has had a patient who does this!) but occasionally woukd be fine and I would much rather use his toothbrush than not clean my teeth - even for a bit of the day

KellyMarieTunstall Sun 18-Nov-12 11:51:22

Use his toothbrush then go and buy 2 news ones for you both.

DuddlePuck Sun 18-Nov-12 11:55:38

shiny - massive EUWWWW at the toothbrush sharing family dog! That is just too gross!

just had a revelation - it's an electric toothbrush and he has spare heads (I use a normal one as I don't like the buzzing feeling). So I can have one of my very own smile

And I'm sure if it came down to it he'd rather I had clean teeth before I got any other part of him near my mouth (cock is not happening at the moment though - I have a bunged up nose and it may well lead to suffocation), even if it meant using his 'brush grin

Off to de-ick my toothy pegs.

squishyotter Sun 18-Nov-12 11:56:33

Maybe use this opportunity to treat yourself and hubby to an electric toothbrush with replace-able heads?
The feeling you get after brushing with an electric brush instead of a normal one is awesome. smile

BadLad Sun 18-Nov-12 12:04:04

Not unreasonable at all.

Don't you dare touch his razor though. That IS being unreasonable.

shinyblackgrape Sun 18-Nov-12 12:13:17

Totally agree with otter - electric toothbrushes are ace. So that's good yiu can just have a head of your own. Snurk re the bj/suffocation issue! Interestingly, DH was keen to play down any germ issue there too much in case it out me off!

The dog toothbrush sharing only came out when the patient was discussing the pros and cons of changing to an electric one and asked DH if it woukd be ok to use on the dog - as they shared shock

That's interesting shiny: I'm a dentist too and I'd rather lick DP's bumhole than use his toothbrush.

shinyblackgrape Sun 18-Nov-12 12:24:02

My God - really?! Please tell me why - genuinely.

I have completely believed DH re the cock analogy and will actually vomit if yiu tell me differently - as well as chucking my brush head out

shinyblackgrape Sun 18-Nov-12 12:25:46

Ps - we don't share one toothbrush but I'm sure they have occasionally got mixed up. That is what he is referring too rather than us having one brush between us

because your mouth harbours more bacteria than your arse. I'll never forget a tutor at dental school making this point and cracking a joke about humans kissing the wrong orifice. She was very straight laced and the last person you'd expect that comment from.

DuddlePuck Sun 18-Nov-12 12:28:31

Shiny clean, guilt free teeth grin though my head is still buzzing wierdly.

Did vibrate the first blob of toothpaste down the plughole by turning it on beofre putting it in my mouth though...

McChristmasPants2012 Sun 18-Nov-12 12:28:47

Just buy him a new one when you get yours

MoreBeta Sun 18-Nov-12 12:28:48

Erm.... you do know that your husbands mouth actually has more bacteria in/on it than any other part of his body or indeed your toilet?

That is a true fact that.

FobblyWoof Sun 18-Nov-12 12:28:48

Good idea about getting two new ones. I'm another one who absolutely hates the idea of someone else using my toothbrush. It's just wrong. But I understand why you feel the need

shinyblackgrape Sun 18-Nov-12 12:31:25

Right - I've just been a bit sick in my mouth. Will be asking DH if he had that lecture at Liverpool uni grin. Did she mention cocks?!

But as I said up thread - he doesn't advocate constant tooth brush sharing. I think was just making a point regarding an odd mix up. We definitely do not share a toothbrush. With each other or dogs!!
