According to Wikipedia it's just slang for an individual here.

VivaLeBeaver · 12/11/2012 22:35

You're not wrong, but possibly slightly cringy.

Dudes is very Bill and Ted.

Whodyanickabollockoff · 12/11/2012 22:38

Would you mind if i said 'thanks dude' to you then Robin ?

I hate that word. My housemate walks in saying that Every. Sodding. Day. Hate it.

I think it's unisex though?

RobinSparkles · 12/11/2012 22:38

It makes me think of early 90s and strange air guitar antics!

Whodyanickabollockoff · 12/11/2012 22:40

Thanks Beaver

I say Lads. With a thick Irish accent. Seems to cover all sorts.

HTH

LRDtheFeministDragon · 12/11/2012 22:43

YAWBU to use 'dudettes'!

TSC used to call everyone 'dude' on here.

Whodyanickabollockoff · 12/11/2012 22:44

BottomWeekly will you say that to a room full of both sexes?

Whodyanickabollockoff · 12/11/2012 22:44

LRD what does YAWBU mean please? TYIA

LRDtheFeministDragon · 12/11/2012 22:46

'You would be unreasonable'.

But I don't mean it entirely seriously! Grin

I think 'dudettes' sounds funny. And you could argue it is less feminist to take a term that isn't gender-specific and make up a secondary term that is obviously feminine to supplement it.

Cluffyfunt · 12/11/2012 22:47

I was thinking of TSC when I read the op.
Where is she?
I liked her.

squoosh · 12/11/2012 22:47

Dudes? I can only say that word if I put on a California, skater, stoner voice.

LRDtheFeministDragon · 12/11/2012 22:48

She got banned for things she shouldn't have got banned for, basically.

Not that I'm partisan.

Fakebook · 12/11/2012 22:50

It was an online chat room. Who cares?

Fakebook · 12/11/2012 22:50

Technically you didn't walk into A room of people either...

Whodyanickabollockoff · 12/11/2012 22:51

Thanks LRD i ended up in a bit of a barney with this bloke .I apologised because i thought i must be in the wrong i say 'sorry ladys good evening to you aswell'(whatever) then i go 'How's it going' and then he goes 'How's what going?' .I left the room WAs he being unreasonable or was i being unreasonable? We have since gone on to have a massive fight on line about this today.Your thoughts please?

VivaLeBeaver · 12/11/2012 22:55

I think that bloke sounds like a pedant of twatty proportions and you should tell him to fuck right off

This is the second thread I have seen this evening where the sadly-missed TSC has been mentioned Smile

LRDtheFeministDragon · 12/11/2012 22:59

I think life is too short! He sounds bizarre.
