to feel sad

Tomorrow is my birthday, one I thought I might not have (god-awful year of health problems) and the postie has just been ( we only have one delivery a day and none on a Sunday) and other than a few bumpff things nothing at all for me.

I know close family will give me cards etc tomorrow but what about my siblings who don't live close enough to pop in?, and what about friends?

Just feeling really sad today, ignore me, self pity is patheticSad

Yanbu to feel sad. Because of the year you have had, but you are an adult and imo its not that important. I would prefer a phone call from them
But the post is not very reliable, they may arrive Monday.
Do you usually do the card thing?

My lot never remember because they are stupid! Poor DS got one card and one present (from different siblings) this year and I have loads of siblings! Thankfully, DHs family may be small but definately make up for it with their thoughtfulness and generosity. As DH says, you can't make people be considerate!

Well, add a 'many happy returns of the day' from me. I hope the coming year is fantastic for you. Make lovely plans and spoil yourself.

not self-pitying at all. the last few birthdays i have spent sobbing and ignoring my children.

this year i went shopping for the day with my sister. it was the best birthday i have had for ages.

Happy happy birthday, and i hope you manage to have a lovely day. buy yourself a treat, even if it is little.

Flowers for you.

Are you doing anything tomorrow?

yanbu its rotten not to get cards and if you have had a crap year doubly so. do something different for yourself on your birthday - anything. cook a recipe for the first time, go to a pub you have never been to anything at all to mark it for yourself. i do this and over the years have had some real fun with it.

Dh lost his job recently (sigh) so cash for treats is in very short supply. The do something different is appealing though, I will try to think of something while I have my bathSmile

You will get people coming along saying dont be so pathetic, its just a birthday, your not a child and other random shit like that.

BUT
A birthday is a big deal no matter if you are 5 or 50. So have a fantabulous day and fuck anybody who says anything that makes you feel bad :)

Happy Birthday for tomorrow!!

so sorry that you haven't had a great start to your birthday weekend. i often feel a little sad on my birthday, i don't even know why half the time but i think it's partly to do with being expected to be happy...

it sounds like you've had a really tough time and it's hard if you're short of cash too (i know what that is like!) but i hope you can have a nice relaxing day full of things that you want to do (for me - not washing up, watching a rom/com, having a nice dinner - nothing fancy just my fav and not making a single cuppa) xx

Go for a picnic (with some cheap fizz) with your lovely DH. You don't have to spend a lot, I totally understand your disappointment, but don't rely on other people to make you feel special (nice when they do obviously) treat yourself. xx
