Sickness bug

I have had a sickness bug all day. When my husband came home from work he asked if the dc felt ill too. I said they were fine but he said they shouldn't go to school tmw incase they pass a bug on to others. One goes to school and one is at playgroup. Would you keep them at home tmw even if they seem well?

I wouldn't take your LO to playgroup if you're feeling poorly [assume you accompany your child]

School for the other one providing they aren't suck should be fine

If the children aren't ill themselves, and you're not required to stay (ie preschool rather than playgroup) then they go. Otherwise everytime one person gets ill in the house you would have to apply the 48hour rule, inc to yourselves going to work.

Yes sorry it is a preschool. I drop her off and then leave. I think they should go esp to school but can see he has a point, hate spreading germs around.

It is only by spreading a few germs around that we get the chance to build up imunity. Yes, someone with a full on sick bug should be at home but not everyone who has contact with them. If DC are well in the morning, send them to school and have a much needed day of rest without them!

They won't spread germs unless they are actually sick, and they may not be. We don't always all get a bug when one comes into the house. You are less likely to pass it to them than they are to you, as presumably they weren't clearing up your sick!

Day of rest sounds lovely! Hopefully no one is ill in the night and they can go to school. Thank u for the advice.

I wouldn't keep anyone off until more than one in the house is actually sick. Then, strict 48hr rule for the one who was sick, 24hrs for the one who isn't to see if he will be.

I'm not sure that makes sense now its written down, but it seems to work. Apart from a horrible 24hr bug last year that jumped to each person in the family at 5 day intervals.

I am so certain I've brought sick bugs home from work (teacher); mmy cast iron immune system means I never seem to suffer (touch wood) but my dp and DD do (has happened twice when suck bug in my class). I'd send them to school if they're fit and well though!

If they're not unwell I'd send them to pre-school/school. They get so many of these things that you can't keep them off just in case they're going to get something.
