Kids are at Out of School care - they love it and so do I. However, they had a big waterfight arranged for Wednesday so required towel and complete change of clothes including shoes. Then today they had the beach so again required towel, complete change of clothes including shoes plus swim stuff and beach shoes. Anyway, No1 son (12) has just gone up a shoe size and only has two pairs of trainers that fit him plus a pair of slip on sandals (look like birkies but only cost a fiver :)) Both trainers are proper leather jobs. Anyway, he comes home on Wednesday with 1 pair absolutely drenched. OH picked them up so of course all the wet stuff stayed in the bag until I found it at midnight last night.

Sooo, he goes to the beach today with his sandals and his only remaining dry pair of trainers.........just home from work and once again the bags of wet stuff are sitting there. Perfectly dry pair of cheap sandals and sopping wet pair of leather trainers!!!! Aaarrrggghhh. Wednesdays ones are still wet and he has a trip again tomorrow.......to a water play park......where he requires.......yeah, you guessed it a bloody set of dry stuff again!!!!

Great planning guys and great job No1 son!!!

Now need to nip out to Sainsburys or Tesco to see if I can pick up something.....I've only been out the house since quarter to 8 this morning :(

Stuff them full of newspaper and put them in the airing cupboard overnight. They'll be fine by the morning.

He had crocs Mellow - they don't fit anymore and now he is in adult size 7 and about to hit puberty (the feet grow first apparently!!) then I am not shelling out the price they want for mens ones.

thanks zandy - i've done that but don't hold out too much hope :(

Cheap gutties bought anyway - so hope they fit!! - before I went out he said "I could just wear my new school shoes" !!!!!!! - Errrmm, that'll be a NO!!

Get cheap crocs then, no difference really apart from the cost and label.

In the meantime surely they'll dry in either airing cupboard, towel dryer or maybe in oven on low low temp.

lark, yeah, cheap crocs are the way to go, just need to get the time to get organised - school stuff nearly done now - just need new trainers!!

Both pairs were sopping - one pair leather geox with leather insoles etc and other pair clarks leather outdoor casual type shoes with leather insoles so will take a while to dry properly. To be fair No2 son's are in exactly the same boat and add to that a pair of sopping wet canoe type shoe things - he just happens to have other options. No1 son, bashed the heel of his foot last week and it is still healing so can't really get him to squish into something too small as it'll press on his heel.

olympia - I can guess - both mine are in scouts and when they come back from a camp the kit is a wonder to behold.....and it always all stinks of smoke from the fire on top of everything else!!

stuff with paper and sit on widnowsil fingers x it wont rain.

cheap croc type things for under a tenner on the market.

however I would have sent him to the beach with his already wet trainers though.

I just bought dd 5 pairs of shoes, luckily I spent under £50 for the lot including a pair of new school shoes, pineapple trainers and a pair of allstars, cheap crocs and balet pumps and new doodles...that is 6 pairs actually even better.

It is amazing how many shoes kids need and they grow out of them all at once with very little warning.

Chop his bloody feet off.

lol troll - we live in Scotland so no chance it wont rain!! Wet trainers were too wet to wear- he wasn't supposed to be wearing the dry trainers at the beach but when we left the house before 8 this morning it was too cold to be wearing sandals - he said he could wear his socks with them Hmm . The story I got was that he took them off at the beach but someone must have thrown a bucket of water over them.

Well done with the purchases :) I just paid 36 quid for 1 pair of shoes for school for one child and hopefully the 30 quid ones I have ordered for No2 son fit him as i had to send back 3 pairs already! no markets or anything near here but got 2 pairs of crocs on amazon for 11.50 delivered so that should help - they use them for Judo anyway so should get a use out of them.

My OH complains about how many shoes they have, it's not really many but when there are 2 of them and they take size 7 and 6 it fairly mounts up - I make OH keep his boots in the garage - he has 3 pairs of size 12 walking boots!!

I did wonder if I could maybe bind his feet like they do in china to stop them growing, but then if his feet don't grow he will probably topple over when he gets taller!!

out2 lunch - that'll be tomorrows plan if the gutties don't fit and nothing else is dry.

OH just complained that the utility room floor is covered in sand and wonders where it came from!! lol.
