Bit petty but I actually have a sore head from the noise. The garden isnt even that big. It takes us maximum 30mins to mow and strim front and back, but hes been at the front for two hours.

Aaaaargh.

My garden will take HOURS. i haven't mowed it this year yet due to constant wetness of the grass. maybe that is the reason. People have far more pressing matters in the world and if this is the only thing you stres about, you're lucky aren't you?

Believe me its the least of my worries, I did say it was petty....

it used to take us 2 hours 45 minutes until we caved and bought a petrol mower. And it still takes over an hour it has become a bit overgrown.

Why is it quicker with a petrol mower? Which one have you got, can I see it via a link please? @ Tiago.

His garden looks lovely. Their whole house is immaculate. The other day his wife was hanging out the top window cleaning the conservatory roof with a mop...

But oh my poor head.

I'm replacing grass with gravel bit by bit. Have done it already for half the back garden (mix of gravel and paving). Other half to go, and then all the front.

  1. Less weeds (no grass for them to grow in, so they then don't seed in your flowerbeds)

  2. Less use of water (the water runs off the paving into the flowerbeds) plus there is no grass to drink the water

  3. Warmer - the stone reflects heat, so you can grow more tender plants

  4. Security - burgurgalurs don't like gravel as it crunches underfoot and makes noise.

I fecking hate the lawn, can you tell?!

We have this one: www.homebase.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?langId=110&storeId=10151&partNumber=379112

Petrol mowers tend to be wider than electric ones, and ours has bigger grass collection capacity than the old one. Also, they have an excellent function called 'self drive' where you don't have to push as they literally move themselves forward (at a far quicker pace than we could push).

I am seriously considering printing off the above link and posting it through their door :o

Ha - I can sympathise with your neighbour! The only time I attempted to mow the lawn it took me two hours. My husband and next door neighbour found it highly amusing and even got some chairs and a beer out so they could fully enjoy my pain Grin

Would you like to swap him for mid-life-crisis-neighbour-with-big-motorbike?

Apparently you can't just get on the motorbike and go somewhere, oh no, it needs to be revved. And revved. For at least 20 minutes before going anywhere. And he likes setting off at about 7am at the weekend.

You must live next door to MY ndn. He has a postage stamp, but every single blade of grass must be mown, inspected, mown again, inspected again. It takes him over an hour to do a bit of lawn 12ft x 6ft. Then he cuts the edges with scissors.

And repeat out the front!

The wife came out the day we mowed ours and brushed the miniscule amount of stray grass infront of our garden back in.

The front of our garden is just the road.

Anal or what!

EndoplasmicReticulum - I feel your pain re motorbikes. What is it with all that revving up they feel the need to do????

I'd far rather listen to a lawnmower going for a few hours Smile
