AIBU?

Is one being unreasonable to take a couple of corgis to use as hot water bottles on public engagements? next time

Crown Long story, so one will cut it short. One went on a family outing yesterday, and it involved a somewhat long boat trip in full public view, with a brisk north westerly whistling its way up one's summer coat. One had to be defrosted afterwards by half a dozen valets with hairdryers. One is thinking with a bit of prior preparation that it might have been a rather better idea to take along a couple of corgis as foot warmers. What would one's subjects do? Crown

Does one not have a couple of serfs to keep one warm? Or is that now not part of the new economy drive?

YANBU, but I thought you mainly owned dorgies these days (dachshund corgie crosses). If you do bring them next time, don't let your grandson and his wife bring that spaniel, it will run amok.

well maam i hope you're not insulted but a bit more enthusiasm shown to your minions along with thermal underwear would be a grand idea for todays celebrations of your 60th Crown.

(that soaking wet choir who sang their hearts out yesterday and the orchestra deserved more than 3 half hearted claps IMO (take a leaf out of yr old man's book maam and smile more)!!!

It's not often I feel sorry for you ma'am, but I have to say I did yesterday. You looked bored, wet and cold. I'd have jumped overboard in your shoes.

You should have taken a slanket. Arms would be free for waving but your old bones would be kept warm. Maybe some kind lady in waiting will knit you one with the royal coat of arms on it for your next public engagement.

Yes take a slanket next time. The static will provide power to boil a kettle for a cuppa too.

And don't forget a flask of gin too

Absolutely, Ma'am - corgis would be just the right accessory for a cold and windy boat trip.
You might also wish to consider a few gun dogs to keep you warmer above ankle height.
And a headscarf & mac to keep the wind off.

G&Ts all round yesterday, I hope! It was about as bad as it could have been - good for you for staying the distance.

Remember dogs don't like loud bangs and sound so YABU. Couple of wellie warmers popped into the microwave will do the job.

I didn't blame you for standing behind the thrones. Made a useful windbreak. I bet your dh enjoyed it didn't he? Bored the pants off everybody all night talking about his time in the navy right? Also a master stroke to put annoying second son on another boat!

Ma'am, I shan't let on that I know you had a 3 bar electric fire going behind those windbreakers thrones. And of course you weren't smiling - there was a nasty niff coming from the melting dorgis who were too close to the fire that made your noble nose wrinkle

Ma'am, in your situation I would have insisted on a boat with walls. You are Queen after all!

You did look pretty fed up though & I wondered why you didn't sit down a bit more. Were the support tights slightly too restrictive?

corgis and heated cushions. a bear-hugger under your frock. in fact, do what the rest of us did and stay home and watch on the telly. you're an old bird, you deserve a rest....ma'am.

I completely agree it would be an excellent idea Ma'am. Your subjects would have enjoyed seeing the Royal corgis scampering up and down the Royal barge and it would have reminded the countries dogs of their place in the pecking petting order.

Thank you for waving at my daughter as you passed by Westminster yesterday. She was delighted. I hope you heard her cheering you

CrownOne wasn't able to sit on the thrones for fear of not being able to get up again. Alas. Also one is unable to smile quite as much as Her Majesty the Queen Mother as one is mostly German and therefore prone to having a face on one like Angela Merkl.Crown

Crown I say, you all sound very jolly and lively, as subjects go. Are there likely to be any meet-ups in the Windsor area in the near future? One has chickens on the Royal Farm and one can bring some baking along. One has an old girl guide cookbook somewhere ... Crown

I have a very beautiful black labrador cross who will happily come and sit on your lap to keep you warm, Ma'am. With our brown lab lying on your feet, you will be as warm as toast. Or might I suggest a pair of Uggs - they do white sparkly ones that would have gorn with your outfit beautifully.

I imagine that, by the end of the day, your face was frozen into that expression, and smiling would have been a total impossibility.

Crown One is partial to labs. In one's next life, one would actually rather like to come back as a lab Crown

Crown Does one's subject's have any questions about matters of state and the monarchy that could do with being answered? One is anxious to make oneself useful. For example, one has knowledge of each Prime Minister's favourite type of beeeskeet since Churchill. Crown

Ma'am, I would like to ask if you're up for a house swap? I was thinking the last week in August, we have a cat but she generally shits in the garden so no worries about the litter tray.

Have you ever been in ASDA? If so did you try a grape before buying?

Ma'am I visited you at Buckingham Palace last year. Unfortunately, you weren't in. You were probably out doing a big supermarket shop.

If you don't mind, I have a few comments to make:-

a) You have too many fireplaces. They also lacked symmetry. There was a big thread on MN about mantelpieces being balanced - it even got a mention on Jeremy Kyle. You should try and find the thread for a bit of advice and guidance.

b) Your tour guide tells everyone where your secret room is. What is the point of a secret room if everybody knows about it? You should sack him.

c) Your nets are looking a bit dirty.

I hope I have not offended - I am really quite attached to my head.
