To insist on collecting DD15, nearly 16 (she insists I put that bit in)at 1am rather than letting her get a cab home after a house party?

I would go for the taxi but then I know the woman who drives it.

unless you trust the cabbie, definately collect. IMO as sensible as she is or isn't, its still public transport/a stranger at 1am. Anyone can drive a cab.

tbh i wouldnt let a 15 yr old in a taxi on her own at 15 i do think they need picked up and home there has to be give and take you are fine with her going late but she can only go late if she is picked up , at least when you pick her up she is where she says she is Wink

I was getting taxis home on my own at that time when I was 15/16, but usually with friends.

I'd be ok with it if it was my local taxi company because they are lovely and woudo call me if there were any problems, but I wouldnt allow it unless the taxi was pre booked.

A 15 year old shouldn't be at a house party until 1am. Will there be drinking? Will there be boys there?

lambethlil · 01/06/2012 12:56

ll back!

Job done- the combination of you all saying collection and Dad's offer and suddenly I seem an good proposition.

I'm collecting her late because she really is very very good and in mid exams and hasn't been out for months.and she's reading over my shoulder

Sparkling Just because we were debauched youths, don't encourage OP's DD. She is reading over her shoulder!

What Sparkling means is she was out trainspotting in Birmingham at 15. We all had hobbies like that. So your mum is very kind letting you go at all. Be thankful.

We have a women taxi company locally, only female drivers and give discounts to women,

If you have one of these please support it, and it would be a good lesson to your daughter to use one,

It's good life lesson to learn to pre think about your exit strategy.

I wouldn't dare go into Birmingham at night now.

I would collect.

I'd collect at that time of night, unless I personally knew the taxi driver (which I do [ grin] so I don't have to do early morning airport lifts and late night pickups anymore!!

My pfb had to be home by 10.30pm through the week and 11pm on a weekend until he left home aged 19 and a half Grin
I would collect (well send DH) at that time of night, but I have known some very strange taxi drivers over the years...
