AIBU?

to microwave some beans?

DH said he was going to run a quick errand for me, then nip to the pub to see someone about something (really really vaguely work related - nearer to hobby than work iyswim) then get chips on the way home for us both.

This was three hours ago, and I am starving and tired - I was up with the baby half of last night and I am meeting my new area manager tomorrow morning so I need sleep.

The offer of chips was great, because I couldn't be arsed cooking for myself (the kids ate at the ILs tonight) but now it is too late to cook anything proper.

So, should I microwave some beans and deal with the chance that he might turn up with chips straight after, or wait longer? (all his tasks are in walking distance of the house - errand is on way to pub, chippy is next to pub, pub is about half a mile from our house)

He isn't answering his mobile.

Meh. I don't mind him going to the pub for the odd pint if there is nothing he is needed for, but I want to know if chips are coming!

Oh, panic over. He found his missed calls, rang back, is clearly tipsy. Apparently someone bought him a pint so he had to stay. His texting finger clearly fell off at the same time, so he couldn't let me know Hmm

Seriously. This does my head in - he acts like IABU just to expect a bit of communication - I'm hardly banning him from going out. Just, you know, asking him to do it at convenient times and to let me know if he isn't doing what he said he would.

If I wasn't so tired I would buy myself a lovely pizza and get it delivered, just to spite him Grin

Angry Sad have you eaten now? This would annoy me too, not the staying at the pub malarkey, but the lack of text so that i know he wont be back with chips and can therefore cook myself some tea!

Order a pizza, with all his favourite toppings then if he comes in while you are eating it, don't give him any!

that's so mean him staying at the pub when he's supposed to be bringing you dinner!

Grrr!

Have ordered a special deal for ordering after 11, so I have a pizza, garlic bread, cookies and coke coming :-)

There is literally no way I will eat all of that, but he will either come back halfway through and I can make him beg for some, or it can go in the fridge for my lunch tomorrow...

Ah, it's payday and I have worked really hard this week, and he spends more at the pub anyway...

Yeah - it's not the going out that does your swede in, it's the 'didn't bother your arse to let me know your plans had changed'.... and breathe - as they say EX for a reason or 10 Grin

Mine is open till 12, and they have a "managers pizza night" offer (I think they can set them locally, at least I assume that normal non geordie places don't have an offer called "bait box") which is available after 11pm. I didn't know this till tonight...
