AIBU?

to be upset for my dad

he, and us, were not invited to my great nephew's ( his great grandson's) christening.

in all honesty, i didn't expect nor was i upset or surprised to not get an invite, but i did expect my dad to be asked,

it wasn't a little do either, the world and his wife were there, as were all the other grandparents, great grand parents etc, and it wasn't on the other side of the world either, just a few miles up the road.

it just seems very sad that they missed my dad out of such a special day.

worra, i don't know, there is no estrangement, nothing like that,
in fact they visited him today, to collect great grandson's birthday cards and pressies, don't think they even mentioned the christening to dad, i only knew about it because it was all over my sister's facebook.

That's weird then...I wonder if there was a mix up in communication?

You know, maybe one person thought the other invited him and now they both think your Dad was rude for not RSVP-ing?

Might be best if you had a subtle word just in case?

Sorry not just him but both of you.

Is he less religious than the others? I don't expect to be invited to Christenings because I'm a declared atheist.

no, dad is as religious as the rest of us, and certainly more religious than my sister or her daughter,

dad is elderly, but very mobile, it just seems a shame that he wasn't invited.

it is very difficult to talk to my sister, we are some what estranged, hence not expecting an invite, and i know her daughter would have been told not to invite us, but not to invite dad, just seems very hurtful really.

It all seems very sad. Your poor Dad.
