Today is Ds last day at senior school. Exam leave starts and then its just back for exams. So aibu to have blubbed all the way home that my Ds is not my little baby needing me anymore. All I could think of was walking to his first day at nursery and the lovely teachers, his bobble hat with a bobble as big as his head and how happy he was was and that this day would never come.
Of course I am happy for him life is an adventure and he will make the most of it but ... today Im blubbing. Feel free to join me.

Same here for dd - felt bad enough 5 years ago when it was Ds! No more ironing uniform, buying shedloads of black tights (every week!); and all the rest of it...yep, feel like just bursting into tears, but so excited for her at the same time! It will be a funny day.....

I did exactly the same- remembered the first day at school!
To help me, I thought back to how I felt on my last day- a little bit sad but mainly excited. So it should be celebrated.
It all passes so quick- so celebrate as much as you can.
My son is in Y12 now- and that's nearly over.
You don't know what you've got til its gone!!

I think that depends on the experience of school. I could have cried happy tears when my oldest dd left! I was overjoyed she had got to the end of what was a thoroughly miserable time. I had pretty much removed her full time by that point and she was back on a revised timetable.

I would loved to for her to have had a good productive time there and feel a little envious of those that do but my dd wasn't one of them.

1 down, 2 to go!

OP your post brought a tear to my eye! I've been where you are and now my boy is at Uni on the other side of the world. It only seems yesterday when we delivered him to school in his new trews and shiny shoes!
