just to prove a point Grin

family business is an aerial and satellite company... I run the office, deal with the customers and engineers, and generally have a nice easy life most of the time...

having a conversation earlier this evening in the pub, I said I wouldn't mind going out doing some of the installations.... and this was met with much ridicule by the "boss" and the other engineers..

so it ended with a deal that I would get a months wages tomorrow, to spend as I wish Grin, if I went up on the roof of my own house in the morning, to do a job that I have been nagging at those who normally scale "great heights" to do....

now going up a ladder really doesnt faze me... what these prats dont realise is that I spent ten years working for a construction company, whose main role was tunnelling, and I merrily went down 600ft mineshafts, and also the Channel Tunnel... Grin so going 30ft up a ladder should be a piece of piss.. I hope!!! lol!

what does fecking annoy me is the attitude that a 40yo woman should not be going on a roof doing a physical job... all the blokes had some sort of "concern" about me doing it... other than the husband who knows me too well and said "when you break the roof tiles, dont come running to me"... Angry... twat!!!! lol!

PS..... This is not a feminist thread... this is just me, pissed off with men who dont think a woman is capable of doing the same job that men her age do... and I just cant wait to prove the buggers wrong tomorrow... to be fair, I dont actually know any women in the trade who do go up on roofs!!!

and I am shitting meself a bit now... but I wont back out of it... Grin so come on ladies, give me some encouragement!!!

Good luck to you! I hate that sort of attitude too. I remember once when I had a flat tyre, I went to kwik fit or similar, and the guy there was incredulous that I'd changed the wheel myself. Grrr.

You should have looked at the roof...looked at the rain...then sucked your teeth and said "Hmmm sorry love, I can't give a firm time" Grin

Oh I got the piss taken... as I usually scoff at the engineers when they moan about having to work in the rain....

I did go out to a job today though, and the man who answered the door said "oh, I wasnt expecting a woman, never met a woman doing this job before, but come in, you might be able to sort the tv out" Hmm

I went in, took one look at his tv, suggested he plug the white lead that came out of the wall, looking suspiciously like an aerial cable, into his tv and it would work... he looked very sheepish and promptly paid our call out charge.. Grin.
