Not to wear heels because I'm 5'8''?

I don't really wear heels (although I probably would if I was shorter as I think they are very glam) as I don't want to tower over DH, am I overthinking this?

I don't wear heels and I'm only 5'4" if that helps, but mainly because I find them bloody uncomfortable and I'm apt to fall flat on my face when I walk Grin

I don't wear heels (because they hurt) and I am 5'. I feel very childlike when out with tall friends in heels, so I think the Op is being thoughtful. :)

You're overthinking it Grin

If you want to wear heels then do so. I admit I rarely wear heels, mainly on nights out which don't happen often, but if you want to then do so.

I'm bloody glad to be 5'9" as I have fallen arches and find heels excruciating. Then again, I probably wouldn't wear them if I were 5'0" as the concept is really odd. So unnatural. Confused

Unless you're thinking about wearing something like these, you're not going to tower over him. If you are already taller than him, he probably wouldn't be bothered, anyway.

My parents have a pair of friends where he is 5'something, she is 6'something, both are slender, and she always has big permed hair and elegant heels. And he likes it very much.

YABU if the only reason is because you want to appear smaller than your dh.

I'm tall and wear heels when I feel like it. Why would being taller than your dh be a problem ?

I'd be a bit upset if dh wasn't man enough to cope with me wearing heels on a night out. I'm 5 10 and wear 2inch ones(really can't walk in higher-I have tried)-legs look thinner, can see at gigs and feel glam. I do at work sometimes too.
Dh is just under 6foot and hasn't a problem with it.
I've always felt my height was one of my best features so I make the most of it.

I am 6 foot and wear heels. DP is 6 foot as well so I tower over him when I wear high heels (more so when wearing platforms).

Neither of us care - I am sure your husband won't either.

I'm 5' 6 and I don't wear heels as I feel like a drag queen in them. Heels on tall women don't look great imho.

I'm 5'9" and dh is 5'11 and I still wear heels. I have some massive ones too so I am often taller than him when we go out but I do love my heels when I'm going somewhere.

Will his knob shrivel up and die if his woman is taller than him?

i am 5'7 maybe taller if I don't slouch and often wear heels...i only have to go to a 3 inch heel to be the same height as dh...he's not worried, neither am I.

and as far as looking like a drag queen....i see plenty of women walking like truckers really badly in flat shoes, so its nowt to do with shoes and everything to do with gait.

I'm 5' 10'' and used to wear high heeled boots when I was seeing a bloke who was only 5' 2'' Grin

And sometimes combined the heels with a trilby hat - what did I think I looked like? Blush

We used to get things shouted across the street at us about him having to get up on an orange box, but we just used to have a laugh about it.

Zigzag...he wasn't an optician was he? I used to have a shorter friend who liked me to wear heels.

I don't think wearing heels is important, but I do think feeling you have to something or you can't do something is tragic and your drag queen comment makes me feel really sad-it's just not very sisterly is it?

I wear heels sometimes. I am 5'11. My DH is 6'1, but in some heels I still stand taller than him. Couldnt give a toss, and neither does he. I love being tall. I assure you, I don't look like a drag queen Grin

He was/is in a band Catsmamma.

And was/is such a nice bloke the height difference just didn't figure anywhere apart from having a laugh at what other people came up with to say about it.

I'm 5'10/11" (possibly starting to shrink!) and I wear heels every day to work, and when I go out. I must admit to wearing low kitten heels when I got married - a mixture of not wanting to tower over everyone in the photos, and the fact that my dress was off the peg and slightly too short for high heels suited them. My DH is 6'0.

i'm 5 ft 9 and appear lankier as very leggy with short body. and i hate flats! my feet are really arched so i find heels comfy. Whether its a bit of a heel ie low wedge or, full on teetering skyscrapers! If i'm going to a gig I'll always wear the highest so i can see better! (which I'm doing tonight actually) Wasn't always like this, only discovered this confidence in my 30s. I refuse to 'shorten' down (height equiv of dumb down) any more, I am what I am, and i feel better in heels

Ephiny · 25/02/2012 19:03

How tall is your DH? Does he actually mind whether you wear heels or not?

You're probably overthinking. I don't wear heels despite being little, as I don't find them comfortable and don't particularly like how they look anyway - and I feel there's nothing wrong with being short, I shouldn't have to apologise for it or go around on 'stilts' trying to pretend I'm taller than I am.

But then there's nothing wrong with being tall either, so if you like them wear them!
