DH treats me like a crIminal for it but am I doing anything really wrong?

Sometimes I just eat a few small spoonfuls, other times I make a dough with a little water and eat that. I don't do it often but sometimes i just crave it (not pg)

Kayano Sun 12-Feb-12 15:01:40

Only
If mixed with butter sugar and raw egg and eaten as part of cake mix....

Flour alone? I'm with your DH and hereby say YABU

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe Sun 12-Feb-12 15:04:00

No, but, but, BUT... what about the weevils? shock

)))raw, uncooked weevils(((

WorraLiberty Sun 12-Feb-12 15:04:43

I've always understood it to be high in bacteria and can make you quite ill

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe Sun 12-Feb-12 15:05:57

High in weevils too, and they're ALWAYS there...

WorraLiberty Sun 12-Feb-12 15:09:57

They'll make the OP wobble but at least she won't fall down..

awhistlingwoman Sun 12-Feb-12 15:12:05

Caught my DD2 (3) eating flour from the bag the other day. So she would say YANBU.

But had not thought about potential presence of weevils. Boak.

<goes to brush DD2's teeth 2,003 times to remove possible weevil contamination>

makachu Sun 12-Feb-12 15:12:23

Ew that's yucky.

awhistlingwoman Sun 12-Feb-12 15:12:32

Thought DD2 had been looking wobbly lately. That would be the weevils.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe Sun 12-Feb-12 15:15:39

grin at Worra.... instant cure for drunkenness then? So a spoonful of flour at the end of a good sesh and you'll stay forever upright, OP.

LineRunner Sun 12-Feb-12 15:18:10

I like eating raw potato and other people find that ... odd.

It must be the starch or summat.

gastrognome Sun 12-Feb-12 15:18:41

Hi,
Have you heard of "pica"? It's the scientific name for when people eat non-food substances or ingredients - I think eating flour might come under this heading. Have a Google and you might find some more info.

By the way, I don't think YABU, but I can't imagine it's doing you any good. If it were a valid/healthy foodstuff when raw, wouldn't it be more common for people around the world to eat it that way?

StrandedBear Sun 12-Feb-12 15:19:03

Hahahaha worra that made me giggle out loud!

RealitySickOfSick Sun 12-Feb-12 15:21:08

Oh I love raw potato too, LineRunner.

I also LOVE raw egg yolks on toast.

RuleBritannia Sun 12-Feb-12 15:21:38

I used to eat chalk when I was a child and not pregnant.

I like to eat flour though. As Kayano said - in a cake. I used to have a bag of SR flour and used it even though it had little wiggly things about half a cm long in it. Made cakes taste nice.

chattymouth Sun 12-Feb-12 15:22:43

It is a food substance most of us eat it everyday just cooked. Your not hurting anyone tell him to bog off

When I was about 5, I started nibbling on a pottery cup. It was part of a set from a dolls house - 4 cups and 4 saucers and a small teapot.

Over the next few weeks, I secretly worked my way through the lot confused. I don't know why but I distinctly remember wanting to eat it, enjoying the grittyness of the pottery and thinking I ought to do it in secret because it wasn't quite right.

Haven't thought about that for years, but the memory of 'craving' the pottery is clear. So the flour thing is odd, but not that odd blush

ScarfOfSexualPreference Sun 12-Feb-12 15:34:10

Sounds like pica, as others have mentioned. I have it, although my obsession is less healthy than an actual food stuff..... apparently due to a lack of a certain nutrient or mineral, in my case possibly magnesium or iron. I've stopped, on my current diet I don't feel like I need it but I do get horrible, horrible cravings....

mumnotmachine Sun 12-Feb-12 17:31:02

Are they weevils, or weasels? (Thinks Worra will understand!!)

Pascha Sun 12-Feb-12 17:34:00

Dh eats raw potato. gross.

stargirl1701 Sun 12-Feb-12 17:36:00

I love raw pastry - never eat it cooked smile Everyone I know thinks it's odd.

troisgarcons Sun 12-Feb-12 17:37:12

I dont have weevils in my flour - and if I did they would be a source of protein.

(((Big hugs to air tight containers))) grin

troisgarcons Sun 12-Feb-12 17:37:46

Raw potoatoes? better than cooked
Raw pastry - just a god given food really - I love raw pastry!
