finding it recorded on the tele is just taking the piss!

And when I confronted him about it he laughed at me and said he didn't know! Wtaf?!?

Disclaimer - he is usually the sweetest most nicest bloke, usually quite a gentleman and we get along very well. He just seems to have this blank spot in his brain when it comes to porn.

I asked him what it was and why it was locked so I can't see it or delete it. It just says the name of the channel, the date and the length of recording so I bloody well knew what it was. He got all embarrassed and I think it was the embarrassment that led him to deny all knowledge when it was perfectly obvious it was him. Nobody else would know how our tele works, nobody else has ever used it.

He can be very stubborn so there's no way I'll get an admission out of him now, but it does annoy me. I can ignore him looking at porn online cos I don't have to know about it, but when I'm flicking through the menu on the tele I can't avoid it, it's there in the list of recordings.

I know he likes a bit of porn, but it's an aspect of his sex life that he refuses to share with me. I don't know what annoys me more, him ogling these poor women, or the fact that he would do it when he could be with me instead.

But I definitely don't want it on my bloody tele.

AIBU to be a bit narked? I think he's starting to take the piss.

maybe he doesn't want to share it with you because he's afraid of you judging him and having an argument about it?

Is it the porn itself that you don't like, or the fact he's so secretive about it?

of course YANBU.
Apart from the ethical issues over the porn, and the emotional ones, he is being really childish.

IMO You need to accept he uses porn and use it to your advantage.

you can usually filter out the porn channels...it'll be in the menu somewhere.

then set a pin and deny all knowledge so he cannot use the tv. HAH!

Why would he want to share it with you?

You sound quite 'anti' porn so it doesn't make sense.

Even to use the expression 'catching' him looking at porn, makes it sound as though he's doing something illegal.

Fair enough though that you don't want it recorded on the TV in case the kids see it.

To be fair there Worra, it is locked so that even the OP cant see it. So the kids wont be able to either.

Depends what age the kids are though, if they're old enough to read and it's called, I dunno... Bend Me Over or whatever, wouldn't they get some idea of it being a bit dodgy anyway, even if they can't actually watch it?

XH 'couldn't understand why Playboy insisted on sending him magazines' when we first moved in together. I have no problem with most porn, certainly not with Playboy, he knew that, but he still denied all knowledge...

Oh, misread that - it's only got the name of the channel it was on.

Just thought I'd say he may not have locked it so you can't see it. If I record a film that's shown after the watershed and try to rewatch it in the day it always asks for a pin, we've obv.set it at some point, or a default security setting. Not that it helps if you're upset he recorded porn, but just thought I'd mention it

I think it's more the fact that he's secretive and yes, childish about it, rather than the porn itself. We do have a good sex life so I guess I feel a bit annoyed that he still needs the porn but I do understand that men like that naughty voyeurism and tittilation thrill.

And no cup I'm not judging him on it. We've been together for fifteen years, it's a bit late for that.

YANBU-I'd be annoyed about the secrecy too. If its sky I think you can call, answer a few security questions and they'll tell you the pin or reset it. You may have to wait until tomorrow or Monday now though

WorraLiberty · 26/11/2011 21:42

But he's bound to be secretive if he thinks you're judging him.

You've used phrases like 'caught' 'blank spot in his brain' and 'ogling these poor women'....so it's hardly likely he's going to feel comfortable about being so open when he knows you dissaprove.

Scrap last comment...just looked and if you google 'forgotten sky pin' I think you can do it online. He may then be annoyed you've gone behind his back though so maybe ask him what it is and give him the the chance first.

Given your obvious dislike of porn he is unlikely to be forth coming about watching it.

Surely the telly belongs to both of you and if he chooses to watch porn on it that is up to him? If its only impact in your life is that you see the names of a few titles then i think you ABU. You say he is an otherwise decent guy? Let him be. I dont see why he should have to tell you, we are all entitled to a bit of secrecy in our lives even if we are in a couple. I would hate think i could never have any private pleasures in life.

The default pin for sky is usually the last 4 digits on the back of the viewing card Wink
