All the stupid errors in iphone/pad people's posts on here ...

Microsoft Word trying to arrange my documents into lists when I'm just trying to create a paragraph ...

Why can't they just admit defeat and concede that the human brain is a million times superior?

I'm with you bibbers. I've tried to turn off that stupid, stupid google thing that tries to predict what you want to search for when you have only written one letter and it keeps coming back. It's driving me NUTS

My iPhone

I do smile when you spot an auto correct and you KNOW it was iPhone lol

YANBU. It's ruined Google for me.

I like typing the start of a question into google like 'why do people' or ''why am I afraid of' and looking at what it suggests lol. I'm daft though

I don't even have an iphone and I can spot them!

Seriously, how pants is it that a complete and utter technophobe knows that iphones are rubbish at predictive texting?

And that their users are forever going "aaaargh, sorry, bloody phone"?

Its hardly a selling point, is it?

Yes, yes, yes to all the "stupid iphone" comments. They're not that good are they? Last summer I was researching new toilets so every time I click on a website now it is populated with fast-moving adverts for bogs. And can Word please stop trying to small-case everything when I type a pluralised abbreviation that is 2 capital letters followed by a small-case s.

The bloody predictive text on my phone ALWAYS turns my dogs name "Millie" into "Nipple" Shock

Fecker has nearly got me into trouble several times! Grin

Actually, when I type in mn now, I get a red-line whenever I use "ise" rather than "ize". Is that mn or my laptop settings? I don't like it.

Have you looked at the website damnyouautocorrect.com?

It is bloody hilarious. Guaranteed to brighten even my dullest days!

Damnyouautocorrect is funny but not funny at the same time (cos it is tedious and time consuming to have to override autocorrect/predictive text when you didn't ask for it in the first place).

YANBU but what especially annoys me is that people have to put "stupid iphone" rather than "stupid phone" why the need to say it is an iphone?

The best one I had was when my friend was asking some advice on a non-wedding style wedding dress and I suggested she should try a nice maxi dress, but my shitty predictive text send this

"How about a nice nazi dress?"
"What, like Helga from 'Allo 'Allo?"

Regarding Google, to get rid of the predictive nonsense, click on the wheelie symbol on the upper right corner and select 'search settings'. Scroll down and tick the 'do not use predictive ladedadedaaah'. Job done.

You folks know you can turn it off right?

When it gets it wrong it's a bit annoying, still it will improve with time. But if I didn't have autocorrect wouldn't I have to blame my appalling English typos on myself Shock ?

So YABVU. Grin

Well I've done that a couple of times Rollmops but it seems to keep switching itself back on again.

I did it yesterday evening and it seems to be holding off for now which is encouraging....

I don't actually think my brain IS superior to my phone......my phone can spell for a start!!

Pascha · 23/11/2011 08:33

I like that when I write "shit" on my iphone it autocorrects it to " shit " (without the spaces) so if you ever see me italicise shit you know i'm on the phone.

YY - agree.

But at the same time, I loved the spellcheck function on Firefox, it doesn't correct just gives me a nice wibbly underline so I can check it myself. Except it doesn't do it anymore. The box in the settings for it is definately ticked so I don't understand why it's not doing it.
