How much time do you spend on MN? And are you happy with that or do you feel guilty about it?

I am a relatively new addict mumsnetter and I have noticed a definite deterioration in the tidiness of the house recently! Should I step away from the computer now before it's too late??

I have an hour or two a day of "me time" while my eldest is at school and the other two are asleep (until DD finally drops her nap!). I also indulge in the evening if DH is out for drinks after work or watching the football or if there is a particularly interesting thread. And there are the odd moments on my iPhone thoroughout the day. I reckon I must have spent around 7 hours on it in the past week!

The worst thing I ever did in relation to my mn habit was to get an iPhone

I spend most of my day flicking through mumsnet. Breastfeeding is a long and boring process

I dip in and out throughout the day thanks to my iPhone and iPad, dp hogs the remote so I mn rather than watch tv of an evening.

I tell myself 1 hour of housework or going running gives me 2 hours of guilt free mumsnetting Grin

works for me most days

Really firework? It was the best thing I did Grin

I spend a lot of time on here, but as a sahp / wahp it's often the only down time I get for me IYSWIM.

I don't feel guilty as on bad days when I can't leave the house it reminds me that there are real grown up human beings still out there somewhere Smile

Oh, and yes I much prefer here to the dross on tv of an evening.

You won't get honest answers on here from some, because in all seriousness some people are definitely addicted and won't want to admit it to themselves.

I reckon some are on here more than they're off tbh.

I pop in and out - so will go on for 10 minute periods a few times a day, then not come back for a week or two etc, sometimes a few months.

But if a thread grabs you, it's amazing how an hour can pass by!

I don't ever feel guilt for time spent on here. This is because dh has a noisy van so I can always hear him coming home giving me time to leap up and look busy.

I also get the house clean/tidy before I go on so I can spend all day here without needing to be interrupted by pesky hoovers or sinks.

I'm thinking of scaling down my time on Mumsnet. I spend far too long on here, when I have far better things to do.

Proud, I honestly didn't think you could become addicted to a website, till a friend of mine told me how often she goes on netmums Shock. She is a busy SAHP with an active social life but she is literally constant, always on her phone.

Getting an iPhone was the worst thing I ever did ( in respect of the time I waste on the Internet ) if I didn't have my phone I know I wouldn't be on here much at all - I don't think it's a 'mumsnet' addiction - more a flicking through my phone addiction. ( I spend too much time on Facebook too )

Oh I've become seriously addicted to netmums - I was chatting on there until midnight last night Shock

I keep leaving - so this is probably my fifth username. I leave because I recognise that I spend too much of my time reading and replying to AIBU posts. When I leave I still read them though!

I don't know how much time I spend each day reading/replying but at a guess it is about 30 mins on average. It is a habit and one I would really like to kick if I am honest. I used to have three websites that I would come on and check whenever I could and waste too many hours on - this have been reduced down to two now.

I have half been waiting for a thread like this - as a sign to stop this habit. Thank you.

And even though I'm not on here that much - I still hate myself for wasting time here - it's like a dirty little habit I just can't kick - I know it's sad to spend a lot of time of chat sites ( it really is - no denying it ) but it probably is an addiction of sorts.

I've recently returned to work full time after 8 months Mat Leave. And as much as I love my job, it hasn't half gotten in the way of my daily interwebs habit Grin

I do miss MN terribly, even though I mainly lurked.

I still try to swan in on the weekends to see what's going on - it's a great place to let off steam, have a laugh and pick up invaluable advice and tips from (mainly) awesome and intelligent ladies with an excellent sense of humour.

Far too much time - after the DCs are in bed (later and later atm as DS doesn't go to bed til 9.30) I spend all evening on my laptop - not just mn but other stuff too.

I pop on a couple of times during the day as well and get sucked in

Report
Flisspaps · 05/11/2011 11:54

Too much. On work days I have a block placed on it (I work from home) so that I can't get on it. The temptation to just 'pop on' for five minutes when the children are napping is too much.

I should be on here much less. I almost regret getting my smartphone, I need to stop using it before DD thinks it is surgically implanted into my hand.

In theory I think MN is fab for getting advice and sharing my wisdom. In practice I do have feelings of self-loathing when I find I have inadvertently wasted hours on it.
