AIBU?

to wander if that's how you treat people in real life?

There's some really lovely people on this site. I found that out a few weeks ago when I really needed to rant.

But what is it with certain people on the AIBU thread that jump on somebody's question, just to point out that they have posted in the wrong place, or that their post is too long to read? Is that what these people say to their friends when they 'ramble on too long' about their latest problem?

AIBU to think that if it's 'too long', then you should just close the thread and click on another one instead... Or... if it's not in the correct subject thread for you, then don't bother opening it at all?

Why do people have to be so nasty?

Some people can't resist speaking their mind when it's anonymous!

Is it because they have nothing better to do? Wink

I have to say the "But why have you posted in AIBU?" does get on my tits. If I were the OP I'd reply with "Because I don't have forum OCD and I don't feel the need to post in certain sections to suit others".

With regards to long OPs...well some of them annoy me. Not because they're long but because often the first 55 paragraphs have nothing to do with what they're asking Grin

I get pissed off with the forum police who take it upon themselves to haughtily announce that threads should be in a different place. AIBU gets the most traffic, and lets face it, many of the AIBU questions are nothing more than daft titles anyway...

As for long OPs which have no paragraphs, and are difficult to read, then hmmmm... I will try to politely point out that it was hard to read, but I would do my best not to be rude in saying it.

OP are you wandering around? Or wondering in your head? Wink

I agree SQUEAKY when there are no paragraphs I sometimes get lost half way, but I don't feel the need to point out to the OP that their grammar is rubbish, I usually just give up and read something else.

I often wonder this on so many levels.

The "you should have posted this in x." gets on my nerves equally does the "I don't like the thread title/you spell zyz word like this," and that's before we get to the posters who tell other posters to fuck off and call them c*ts.

It's pretty easy to write out an insult...

I always try to be nice in RL and on here, its just who i am. I dislike forum police, but have had 2 ex friends who spoke their mind and used to say "well im just being honest" and they werent they were just being rude.

It bugs me more when people correct my spellings on here!!

Exactly WANNABE that's why I asked is that how they treat people in real life. Surely your posts reflect your personality to a certain degree, anonymous or not?

'Why aren't you posting this in chat' does my head in (in a small, relative way).

But sometimes advice to the OP on how to make their posts more readable can be helpful I suppose, it depends on how it's said.

Definately not OK if it's to put a poster down.

The OP says she's in a state and some twat comes along to point out her lack of grammar, why would someone do that??

Just hide the thread.

Yes, I totally agree on politely advising where else to post, if you think they will get more/better replies. It just feels like some people literally sift through the threads some nights to see if they are appropriate for AIBU and if the grammar is up to scratch.

Yes, I hate the 'YABU because this is not an AIBU question'.

I've noticed some people comment on the paragraphs thing by reposting the OP with paragraphs put in, then explain to the OP they've done it so it will get better responses. I think that's quite a nice way to do it.
