AIBU?

to be really disappointed with the Channel Tunnel?

For some reason, I had expected it to be like the tunnel at the Sea Life Centres - thick glass so the passengers on the Euro Star could see the fish Blush I know it's daft but AIBU to feel they could have done something more imaginative than boring old concrete?

And you got your qualification in civil engineering from?

It is a phenomenal, fantastic feat, and I have not crossed the channel at surface level since it opened.

YABA where the second A means Absurd!

Had you not realised it goes under the sea bed not on it? - underground?

I use the car service Eurotunnel quite a lot and I'm amazed how many people have asked me quite seriously if you can see anything out of the windows. They also think it's funny that you sit in your car the whole way. Although I did have someone going once that, because I'd paid for a more expensive Flexi Plus ticket, they let me sit in a Rolls Royce... Wink

as Paschaelina said... it goes under the ground, not the sea...

Not a heck of a lot to look at.

AKMD

I knew you were being tongue in cheek.

I needed to see that title at the moment I did.

Thanks - again. Smile

I did realise it goes underground and I wasn't particularly surprised that it was dark but I still had a small pang of disappointment the first time I used it (quite a few years ago I would like to add!) and think about it whenever I or someone I know uses it.

Maybe they could do what they do on Japanese subway tunnels and make the whole tunnel one giant video wall with images of coral reefs and fishes swimming around :o

Sounds good to me :o

A 30 mile long video wall wouldn't do for me. The reason I love my Eurotunnel trips is that I can zone out the world for half an hour. No mobile reception, good Kindle reading time, put the CD player on quietly.... lovely.

cogito sounds lovely, but I fear the screeching from the back seat of the car would kill that experience for me. The ferry is currently the least painful option for us, at least the dcs can charge around for 90 mins..

They can charge around for 35 mins on the Eurotunnel. There's nowhere to go really... just up and down the walkways making the connecting doors go 'pssccchhhhh!' or visiting the loo for fun. But, on the plus side, they're not going to fall into the sea. :)
