I probably need something else to concentrate on but this issue is really getting to me!

Why do people find it so bloody difficult to spell the smallest of words, a few examples for you;

Ware (in the context of clothes) - wear
Carnt - can't
Get - git

Another thing is people saying things that make no fucking sense! For example;

'Can you borrow me some money?' No I fucking can't you illiterate twat however I can lend you some!

Please people think about these things, or buy a blackberry or iphone which highlights the errors you have made. Thank you.

Fast typing in response leads to errors sometimes!

Your swearing bothers me, it's ridiculous. I probably need something else to concentrate on too. There we are.

You are being completely unreasonable, we're not at school and we don't get marked on our posts.

It's not for you to try and put down posters who don't have the same level of English you think you have, like you just did on the thread this thread's about.

A thread picking up an interesting point made on another thread to discuss it further without derailing the original thread - OK.

A thread to pick apart someone who made spelling mistakes in their OP/posts - shitty.

Actually the ones that really get to me are where something is deliberately mis-spelled so as to be "catchy" e.g. Krispykreme Donuts (aargh!!)

Oh and to add to your "borrow"/"lend" scenario which also irritates me, where I came from people would sometimes swap "own" and "belong" as in "He belongs that big tile company up the road", when he actually owns the company.

YABU i have a grammar school education, a keyboard with a mind of its own it dosent always display what i type so sometimes my posts have mistakes and dont forget some people are dyslexic and like my husband what he types makes sense to him as in no for know and know for no, it dosent matter how many times i tell him he has it wrong he still types what he does and cant see its wrong, so just get past it and read posts as they are its not worth worrying about peoples spelling as long as you can still read what they have said

I find it really annoying when people post the same post twice.

bibbitybobbityhat · 29/06/2011 17:03

Yanbu, I find it irritating too. But you just have to put up with it really. I have seen people being blisteringly rude to other posters who have turned out to be dyslexic or Polish or drunk or breastfeeding or just going insane with tiredness or poorly educated - or any of the other reasons that might cause someone to make a small spelling mistake. By and large the spelling and grammar on this site is pretty good and txtspk is well and truly verboten!

Starting a new thread to moan about a particular posters spelling mistakes is really twatty behaviour.

OP - if you're going to bitch about people's spelling or grammar or punctuation you have to make sure your own is above reproach. Just saying Grin.

Surely that should be ' it's actually quite mild', OP?

Its is possessive, it's is a contraction of 'it is'.
