to think this was an unhappy start to my day,

My other half has not been well all weekend.

With some difficulty we got to the doctors.

He is a good doctor; but on this occasion took 30 mins and said.
"I dont know what causing the serious problem; so I will send you to A & E by ambulance."
That happened and, I suppose it is touch and go if she comes home today. That sort of thing certainly shakes your day up

I have had one or two short stays in hospital. Not much fun; but they were doing their best.

I had a similar experience once with my DP when he had to go to hospital suddenly. I agree that it does shake you up. I hope she's on the mend soon.
