to think it's a bit creepy that my friend's fiancee calls her....

.. 'my little girl'?

There is quite an age gap - nearly 25 years I think. She is quite young looking as well, always getting ID'd even though she's in her twenties. She thinks it's sweet and shows that he cares, but me and some of our other friends find it really weird.

Hmm, I'd find it icky, but I think most relationships have nicknames attached to them. My partner calls me 'monster' and I have seen the PILs go a bit at that, but it has a private history for the two of us.

So, I know what you mean, but probably YABU.

It is a bit creepy, but I guess if she doesn't mind then it's a moot point [shrug]

I had an ex who called me "young thing" due to our age gap, but who wouldn't like being called that!!

If she doesn't mind and he doesn't mind, YABU and it's really none of your business.

My boyfriend calls me something similar, although it's not that. It's more to do with my height than anything else. And I love it.

DH calls me Fish. Or The Fish if he's being formal.

I'm sure it sounds bloody ridiculous to the masses but it's just a nickname.

My husband calls me Gorgeousness.

I am reasonably sure that anyone hearing that would barf their guts up.

However, "my little girl" is a bit weird. I think it's the way it makes you think "child", like the fact that she is, to him, a "little girl" is what he likes.

But, that is probably overthinking it.

I call my eldest child "claptrapvonshpilderbeans".

People call their loved ones very odd names.

I'm intrigued by the origins of "Monster" and "Fish" lol

DH calls me "Spooky", which sounds mental to most people - it's not even a noun it's an adjective! - but it means something to us.

Hecate my mum used to call us kids 'critters' as a collective or, individually, Critter Number 1, Number 2, etc.

I call my DP FurnaceMan because his natural body temper is around the level of a crematorium fire.

Katie My name begins with a syllable with rhymes with 'mon' so it started out as *onster and then morphed into Monster once he got to know me better.

My DH calls me Fatso (I am a size 6) and my father has always called me Ug (short for ugly) - however, both are said with affection in the obvious belief that it is immediately apparent that I am neither.

I am sure my calling DH Lovely Man makes a few people barf.

TBH - if they are happy with this it might be a bit of an in joke because of the age gap. Maybe 'Get a Life' is in order?

I call him Bubbles. He doesnt know yet that I call him this.
