Deadly 60...

I know kids love these programmes (probably adults too), but... would I be terribly unreasonable to wish they'd get a gentle nip bitten to within an inch of their lives sometimes?

I see these 'presenters' picking up animals, reptiles, etc. by the tail, ignoring the warning signs and getting no consequences because of all the safety equipment... they're so intrusive and insistent with the animals. Ok so our DCs aren't likely to come across these venemous animals, but it's not a great lesson in respect for all animals, is it? Angry

I miss the days of David Attenborough, filming and narrating animals and nature from a difference, with great skill and gentleness.

I know what you mean, but Steve Backshall, the presenter of Deadly 60, is an animal expert.
He identifies the animals he finds and knows how to handle them properly. I would say he avoids getting bitten due to his own skill and knowledge rather than thanks to any safety equipment.

Also, be careful what you wish for, many animal experts have been injured or killed by the creatures they handle for our entertainment. Remember Steve Irwin being killed by a stingray.

YABU

purely because on the last episode of deadly 60 that I watched, the presenter was badly bitten by the world's deadliest killer ants.

Now if only the hairy bikers were to come down with a bad case of food poisoning on the other hand ....

Steve Backshall is an expert and has been bitten a few times.

I think he is great though and is DS2s hero

Steve Backshall gives proper lectures at proper universities. I worked with him last year and he is absolutely dedicated to animals and extremely gorgeous knowledgeable. He's also a really genuine bloke.

I like Deadly 60 and think Steve Backshall is an excellent and enthusiastic presenter. I saw David Attenborough recently saying that in the 50s and 60s he regularly bought rare animals back to the UK for zoos, not realising that they would become endangered within decades. I admire Mr Attenborough immensely but he's not perfect either.

And Backshall comes pretty darn close Wink LOving Deadly Art too.
