Argh... just that really. For the second time this year I have broken the LCD screen on DPs netbook. The first time I knelt on it when it was underneath a cushion on the sofa, this morning I stepped on it in the dark when it was on the floor of the bedroom. Both times the screen cracked. I'll replace it again (last time I got a new screen for £45 and DP fitted it himself, this time I might as well get him a new netbook since it was only £199 in the first place and it's running pretty slowly these days).

I know I was the one to actually break it both times, but really, AIBU to think he should put it somewhere safe when he's not using it, and it is a least partly his fault?!

I once left my laptop on the bed while I went for a shower, and DP broke the screen by accident. I paid because it was my own bloody fault that I left it on the bed.

From the other perspective - I'm the one who leaves stuff ins illy places and I take full responsibility for the fact that if dd2 treads on the keyboard and mashes, or spills juice on it cos I left juice next to it that that is my fault...

Dh despairs in me and I would definitely pay for the repairs myself!

OK, so I steadfastly shan't be paying for a new one.

EngelbertFustianMcSlinkydog (amazing name) he defrags/scans the goddamn thing religiously. I personally think he's got too much scanning crap on there and it's that which actually slows it down, but what do I know. He also decided to upgrade the Windows 7 Basic to the all-singing-all-dancing version which a £200 netbook clearly isn't quite equipped to handle, but again I was assured that it was all already on there with the features disabled. I don't really care so stay out of it.
