Worzel Gummidge - Tramp or Scarecrow.

Drunken conversation with SIL regarding said character. She seems to think he was a lonely tramp wondering around the countryside looking for work and the only work he could find was as a scarecrow.

Now I think it's pretty common knowledge that old Worzel was a scarecrow that came to life, bear in mind that I haven't seen it for years.

I'm sure i'm right Wink

Scarecrow, made by the crowman, who did have a home but looked very trampy.

Scarecrow.

He scared the bejaysus out of me when I was wee. Apparently I used to cry and hide behind the sofa when he changed his heads.

He was a scarecrow, he was made by the Crowman, and he had a lot of spare heads that he could use depending on his mood - 'thinking head', reading head' etc.
Does your SIL know nothing?! :-) Methinks she should take a leaf out of Worzel's book and get herself a clever head, she needs one lol Grin

I did say that I don't know any tramps with interchangable heads, but would she listen.

My hair resembles Worzel Gummage's in the mornings.

GHDs were the best purchase to date.

worzel was okay, but mr turniphead (was that his name?) - evil scarecrow - was absolutely terrifying.

He was a bit of trampy scarecrow IMO.

Loved Worzel. Favourite programme EVER.

Definitely Scarecrow. I used to be frightened of him too and for a while refused to go to the Harvester because of the very lifelike Worzel and Sally statues there (despite my love of those swirly ice creams with the sparklers).

FGS do people know nothing these days Hmm. Worzel Gummidge was a scarecrow, he'd be well pissed off to hear himself described as a tramp, I seem to remember he took the hump quite easily :o

His 'andsome 'head used to scare the fuck out of me!

MrsBananaGrabber · 13/03/2011 20:20

GwendolineMaryLacey - ha ha, I have tears in my eyes. He did used to take the hump at the slightest thing, he was a sensitive tramp scarecrow ole Worzel.
