to be amazed that so many women have never felt their own cervix?

Admittedly I may be biased but I do think it is peculiar that so many women haven't explored their own bodies and even more peculiar that so many women think it is peculiar that I think it is peculiar.
AIBU?

Hmm
What made you feel the need to feel your own cervix then? Were you worried that people had been lying to you and in fact it wasn't there?

Mine is LFO today. Grin

It's not something that you get taught about or people talk about so most women don't even think that's it's something that you can even do, iwykwim.

Am I a bit stupid then, why would I want to feel my cervix? (I mean in particular, as opposed to any other internal organ)

I possess a heart and I am reliably informed lungs too, but have never felt the need to explore them either.

Until I'd had two babies I couldn't reach it so couldn't have felt it if I had wanted to! And no my fingers aren't freakishly short or anything, it was just too far up. Confused

I know what mine feels like.
In fact when I was in labour with last baby mw asked me if I wanted a feel as there was still a small amount stretched over his head and it was me who eased it off not her.

I find it odd that people haven't explored their own bodies too.

Why do I need to, and I reckon getting my hand in that kind of position would cause cramp! Grin

I have had a rummage but not for eons. Glad I did as it had a lumpy bit on it, had it checked and all was well Smile There's a history of cervical cancer and abnormal cells in my family hence rummage.

If I was to have a rummage now how would I even know it was my cervix?

I had cervical cancer (now in remission) so am very aware of my cervix these days, but can't say I'd thought about it much before I was diagnosed.

For those people who are interested (and not squeamish!) there is a brilliant website here My Beautiful Cervix Project showing some really amazing pics of the cervix throughout an entire cycle, and during pregnancy.

You can of course feel your own cervix too - it feels a bit like the tip of your nose, but changes depending on where you are in your menstrual cycle. Make sure you wash your hands first though and of course, make sure you go for regular smear tests too ladies!

I don't have one anymore, so can't have a feel even if I wanted toGrin

Do have a dead end though which is higher up than it used to be since some surgical hoickingGrin

there's no need to put your finger up your arse (if you're a woman) as there's nothing up there.

apart from poo

because it is part of you and it's fascinating how it changes. And you can feel it where as furtling with your appendix could be messy.

I think it's more normal to have a feel of your own that to have someone else fiddling with it.
