AIBU?

To not go into the downstairs bathroom because a really big spider is already using it?

It's bigger than me [exaggerating emoticon]. And crouching right by the loo.

Maybe it will be gone in the morning?

I'm sorry, I couldn't resist giggling when I read this. I do scream and run away like a little girl when it comes to spiders though. And then cue possible crying or shaking in bad situations.

Is there a big strong bait friend/partner there to help you with it?

Get a dog. I've trained my terrier to eat spiders, I love it when she crunches the feckers.

Um yeah. My dog does this and then spits them back out. On my feet. Still mostly alive.

Geistesabwesenheit - me too! I have been known to hold my terrier up to the ceiling to get at spiders :)

oh, and I've trained him to eat the whole lot, not just slobber on them. I used to have a dog that rolled on them to kill it but you still have the problem of what to do with the body as it could spring back to life and chase you round the house. I speak from bitter experience Shock

My bloody huge cat is scared of them. He can jump 2 meters up in the air when he spots one.

Tbh, I would put a jar/glass/bucket over it- otherwise you might find it on your pillow in the morning

Move out?
It is surely the best option you have??

YABU Spider pee is good for you.

Put a small glass over top to trap it. Then slide a piece of strong paper underneath, and pick them up, free him outside, and voila. Ds taught me that. He was tired of my sadistic spraying them with hairspray to immobilize them, then flushing.

Ha ha ha ha...that is something I would do!

YABU. Spiders will eat the flies which are trying to get at your poos. The complex-eyed little buggers will sit and eat and then dance around on your celings and countertops with six crap-covered feet each.... unless the spider gets them. Let the spider do its job!

Confused

I wouldn't go in there either! But when I went in next and it was gone, I'd have to check the toilet roll to ensure it was not hiding inside the inner roll.

"ran the fire truck over it"?!

Urgh.

Although I'm starting to overcome my distaste, to wonder how the (superstitious) "bad luck for killing a spider" would be distributed amongst the firemen/women in this case.

MadamDeathstare... you're kidding, right?
If even firefighters are that scared of spiders, what are the rest of us supposed to do??? Shock

Zap the little beast with hairspray then retreat for a few minutes. It sticks the hairs on their legs together and slows them down so you can get a better aim with your shoe/book/whatever lethal weapon you chose. Thankfully I?ve managed to overcome my spider phobia since I had the DS?s as I didn?t want them to grow up as petrified of them as I was.
