Yes. Another one. I just presume they are morons who don't know the spelling (or sometimes to meaning) of the words they are throwing around. Really annoys me, i saw a woman on CDWM the other night who made about 10 Pavlova meringues because she kept getting them wrong and she said the word Pav-a-lova about twenty thousand times in the space of 60 seconds. I had to turn it over as she was just irritating me. That and her roots.

Ha ha ha, "asseptible" yes, I hear her saying that. It's more annoying because it appears her accent "allows" for it. When realistically it shouldn't.

Skellington is equally as frustrating, what is the matter with people?

How do you pronounce calm then? Confused I think you'll find most people keep the L silent, or at least very subtle.

Agree in principle about mispronunciation generally though. It really irks me.

I say it with a silent L as oppose to throwing an R into the mix. More of a Caaaaam (without sounding like I come from South Wales-or teaching yoga).

Eurgh "pacifically" really really really annoys me. If you have the balls to correct, like I do, and say, "don't you mean specifically?" they insist that's what they said.

Yes Sleepy I do make small, very small, allowances for accents, but as your in Coventry and therefore the Midlands, you are not excused :o

Nuculer is terrible! Thankfully I've only heard that on films.

There's a place near the Midlands, I think near Telford spelt "Lillieshall" (Lillies Hall?) but when the local folk say it they say;

Lill-ish-al. SO even if it were Lillie-shall and not Lillies Hall, it's still said the wrong way.

No it doesn't. If you go from the A straight the M you miss the R. It's hard but I've practised :o

LOTM you are mad. You either pronounce the L or you don't. If you are a southerner the A is a long A anyway. No R anywhere to be seen or heard.

My mother can't say ear, she says year and yearings instead. It drives me mad.

And when people say gibberish with a hard g rather than a j.

I can say calm without an r sound so LOTM is not the only one.
