In wanting to make some amendments in new-ish kitchen?

We had a lovely new kitchen put in 2.5 years ago. I am generally very pleased but we realised after a while that we had made a major mistake in the layout - we put the tall units - fridge, larder, broom cupboard etc directly under the new skylights which stops light coming in. Hence kitchen lacks natural light which I hate.

However, someone I know who works in kitchens has suggested we can move the units to the other wall and swap with existing low-level units. Basically it's just a swap over of the 2 walls. In terms of materials, we would need 1 new cupboard door and an extra (small) piece of granite. Not sure how much this would cost, it's being priced up at the moment.

But dh is adamant we're not doing it as he says it's fine as it is. I have pointed out that it probably won't be that expensive, and it would be a tiny fraction of what we paid in the first place. We're lucky to be reasonably comfortably off and could afford to do this.

Dh is out at work all day, I am in the kitchen a LOT, plus I do ALL the cooking, so I think I'm not being unreasonable in wanting to do this. As well as letting more light in, it would also increase the amount of work surface, so I think it's worth doing.

This is the sort of thing I dont even discuss with my DH, I just go ahead and arrange for it to be done - as long as it's not too expensive in relation to our finances. He usually likes these small changes and if he doesn't see the point, he at least has the grace to admit I am the one spending more time at home than him and so it matters more to me.
One such thing was radiator covers which he didn't 'get' but make a big difference to me.

So YANBU in my opinion but depends on cost and whether the money is available.
